The question is 3x to the power of -2 + 2x to the power -3. My textbook answer is 6/x to the power 5 and my answer is 3/x squared + 2/x cubed. I don’t know how my textbook got to that answer because I don’t know if that expression can be simplified further

So the question is (2x to the power 3) to the power 2. And the answer given is 4x to the power 6. Since 2 times 2 is 4, why isn’t 3 time 3 9 , since we’re multiplying the insides twice?. Why does the working have to be the indices multiplied?.

Another question is this one 9x3 × 4x3 × 2y3 ÷ 3y and the answer is 24x to the power of 5y. The solution is they first multiply the numbers which are 9 times 4 times 2, which I do get for the first three numbers but I thought bodmas applied here which is you should first calculate division first. Why was this rule not applied here?

As far as I think back, it’s always been around but over the last few years it’s being overdone. I was a funeral yesterday and these young 20 something year old boys were just doing so publicly it was such a shame. And to make matters worse, these boys weren’t even directly affected or close to the person that passed away that they would be coping with alcohol. How did all this even come to be
