Vaping

Is vaping allowed in the park? A young man and his mother were sitting in front of me yesterday and he began vaping. I eventually tapped the mother on the shoulder and said I have asthma and it was bothering me. He continued but didn't light up again. Had he I was going to ask a staff to intervene. Does this happen much? Would staff be any help?

Weights

Whimsy weighed 9 lbs at 12 weeks today. Just curious as to what your whippet weighed at 3 months.

High value treats

I have a 12 week old whippet puppy. She isn't very food motivated and looking for suggestions on treats that will appeal. I'm used to training using clicker and treats.

Welcome Whimsy

Brought this wee bit of Whimsy from from Kentucky to N Michigan on Saturday. Whimsy is10 weeks old. My first whippet but have had Irish Wolfhounds before so am familiar with sighthounds. She's already good in the crate and puppy pen. Hasn't had an accident yet. I'm already in love.

What is Waiting period/general questions

I'm getting a 10 week old whippet puppy on Friday. I am looking at Lemonade. What does it mean there's a 14/30 day waiting period before she can be covered? Is this the waiting period from date of purchase or something else? I'm looking at a policy that covers 80%, $500 deductible and $20,000 annual plus vet visits. Is the puppy package that includes spay, microchip and wellness exams worth it? Overall feedback on Lemonade appreciated.

Insurance

This has probably been asked before but I don't know to search for it. Is pet insurance a good investment? I read that Whippets are relatively healthy compared to many breeds. If I understand the insurance it means paying for instance a $500 deductible first before coverage kicks in. I can't see paying that much per year for many years down the line. Then the maximum covered per covered treatment can be $75 for teeth cleaning for example. Teeth cleaning costs a lot more than that where I live. I just don't know. I could put away the monthly payment in a savings account earning interest. ETA: After reading all these takes on insurance I'm going to look into accident and illness coverage. Thanks everyone.

Getting a puppy questions

I'm an experienced dog I owner, even had Irish Wolfhounds over the years. Now I'm getting a 10 week old female Whippet. Here's the first of many questions coming as we grow used to each other. Breeder does not feed puppy food which is fine but I wanted a variety of others take on what they feed. In my decades of puppy rearing I've always fed puppy food. Second, does she need jackets now for temps under 50. For context I live in N Michigan and we can still have frost warnings. That's all for now 😀
