I wrote an article on LinkedIn why I think as an owner of a company that we should be licensing our property management professionals in New York City.
I'm licensed in FL for this very position and I have found that when given the NYC vs. FL way of handling things, I have a lot more confidence in the people that I can hire in FL because they are licensed, are educating themselves every two years and have a baseline understanding on all facets of the business.
Just curious what everyone's thoughts are on this and if you think it should be a licensed industry.
I have a few residential buildings that I manage in Manhattan and Queens that need part-time or fill-in coverage from time to time for porter and doorman positions.
Upper West Side and Jackson Heights are first up on the availability schedule. If you are interested and have experience with porter and janitorial duty, please send me a resume at ebmgnyc@gmail.com. Range of salary is $20/hr - $26/hr, depending on where and what position.
if this is against the sub rules please delete, but I host a podcast dedicated to a lot of coop issues in NYC. we have 82 existing episodes and trying to get back on the weekly rotation.
I own a few property management companies in New York City and one also on Long Island. We're hiring for a few spots within the companies and wanted to share them here in case anyone has the background (this needs specific experience as these are not on-the-job training and are meant to step into them without needing to learn).
Portfolio Property Manager for New York City coop and condo buildings. These would be a variety of buildings within our portfolio. Prior coop and condo management experience is a must. This company manages 100 coop and condo buildings in Brooklyn, Queens and Manhattan (largest portfolio area is Manhattan)
Director of Management - Long Island: Our Director of Management is retiring after about 20 years with our Long Island company at the end of 2026. This position is not to manage individual properties but to manage the managers, work with ownership of the company and retain client relationships and contracts. This is someone who needs to have Long Island, New York specific high-level management experience as you will be reporting directly to me, my partner and dealing with our Board members throughout the portfolio. This company manages roughly 85 clients and 6,000 HOA, coop and condo units in Nassau and Suffolk Counties.
If you know of - or you yourself - are interested, please DM me and we can set up an intro zoom call to see if this would be a good fit for either of these positions.
I've been in the real estate world in NYC for the past 30 years and I, along with my partner on this new venture just launched our PropTech app using Base44. It's a spot for residential buildings in NYC to completely oversee their building's operations and then we tie that into upselling other in-person consultations and services, based on our unique experiences.
Manage Your Building may eventually move off the platform as we gain revenue in order to protect our future, but we've been stress-testing the application with my clients and so far this is a game-changer that could actually grow larger in revenue than the 3 management companies that I own in NYC.
