Metformin side effects consistency?

I had posted here a few days ago after getting diagnosed with type 2 — my doctor and I discussed different medication options in a follow-up appointment & settled on Metformin!

I started it today & followed my doctor’s advice to take it with a meal (I went with breakfast) and where I have quick access to a bathroom just in case. I’m on the extended release so he also told me that I might not experience any side effects, and I mostly didn’t. I had some stomach gurgles and I’ve felt a little nauseous / had an upset stomach all day but to be honest, I always feel a little sick after eating (now we know why!) so that‘s pretty par for the course.

My question is, should I expect this to be the harshest side effects that I experience? Or have people felt mostly okay (or at least confident in leaving the house…) only to get hit with really bad side effects a few days later? Just don’t want to decide that I’m fine, go out to run errands or go to the movies (my AMC A List status requires maintenance!) and then experience some awful side effects and a lot of regret.

Rebuilding after my boyfriend (30M) broke my (32F) trust

Obligatory I’m on my phone so apologies for any weird formatting quirks!

My boyfriend (30M) and I (32F) have been dating for just about a year, and overall, it’s been really lovely. We have the same values, a lot of overlapping interests, we get along with each other‘s friends, and I genuinely feel like we could spend unlimited time together and still have stuff to talk and laugh about.

No relationship is perfect though. I’m a pretty textbook standard anxiously attached girlie (but I’ve been working on it in therapy and I’ve gotten a lot better!), and even though we’ve had disagreements (mainly centered around my own insecurities and his self-admitted selfishness and prioritizing himself & his time over me), we’ve been able to work them out.

A few nights ago, someone told me they saw him on a dating app, which was confusing because we’ve been exclusive for almost the entire time we’ve been together and actually had a conversation a few weeks into us dating about deleting the apps. I called him and asked him about it directly and he immediately denied it. We spent ~an hour on the phone where he said it could have been someone with the same name or an old profile because maybe he only deleted the app and not his account. The conversation was going in circles so we hung up. Then he texted me a few minutes later to say that we actually needed to talk because he hadn’t been honest.

He came over and a lot came out. Apparently, he was texting and going on dates with other women well after we were exclusive (including going on a date and then coming to my apartment afterwards!) and getting into a cycle where he’d download the apps, swipe and message a few times with people, feel guilty and delete the app, and then repeat the entire thing throughout our entire relationship. All while telling me that he only wanted to date me, couldn’t even imagine looking at another woman, and wasn’t I so emotional and sensitive for thinking otherwise?

He did apologize tonight though, said that he wants to fix this and fully commit this time, and even promised to come back to me with a plan of how he’s going to fix this. But obviously I’m devastated, especially when it turns out that he was actively doing the things I was anxious about (looking at other girls, feeling like there someone “better” out there) and the only reason he was honest is because I caught him, not because he wanted to come clean on his own.

I think I know what the right move is here but I can’t imagine my life without him, even though it objectively hasn’t been that long. But I also can’t imagine hearing him tell how he feels without questioning it or seeing him on his phone and wondering if he’s on an app he swore he deleted. I’ve been waiting to talk to my friends about this (maybe that’s a sign?), but I’d appreciate any advice on how to navigate this situation (or if it’s even worth navigating!).
