When God made INFJs (Humor/Parody)
God: “Time to make some INFJs!”
Me: “Sounds good. What traits would you like the INFJ to have, Lord?”
God: “Give them the vision and industriousness of ENTJs….”
Me: “Uh huh, vision and industriousness, roger that.” *scribbles on notepad*
God: “…and the constant self-doubt, anxiety, and overthinking of INFPs.”
Me: “But Lord, wouldn’t that mean they won’t be able to realize any of their visions?”
God: “Yes, but they’ll have the gift of escapism.”
Me: “So like meditation?”
God: “No, more like excessive daydreaming, dissociating, and zoning out randomly. They’ll even hold conversations with themselves, imagining fake scenarios that never actually happened.”
Me: “Wow, okay, what about empathy?”
God: “Yes.”
Me: “How empathetic do you want them, Lord?”
God: “Excessively so. They’ll feel everyone else’s emotions so much, they’ll lose clarity of their own.
Me: “But Lord, without internal clarity, they’ll struggle to express themselves and be ridiculously hard to understand.”
God: “Bingo! No one can figure them out, including themselves.”
Me: “Okay, they'll be like a giant emotional Rubik's Cube.”
God: “That's their struggle. To understand others like a book but be completely blind to themselves.”
Me: “Uh huh.” *continues scribbling on notepad*
God: “They’ll look for mirrors in people, objects, songs, poetry, religion, books, pets, but none of them give them the whole picture of who they are, leaving them confused.”
Me: “Wouldn’t all this self-doubt, blindness to self and excessive empathy turn them into people pleasers and allow others to take advantage of them easily?”
God: “Yes, to counteract that, we’ll give them strong intuitions!”
Me: “Ah, there it is, finally! Some mercy!”
God: “But their self-doubt makes them second-guess and dismiss their own intuitions most of the time, making their strong intuitions basically useless.”
Me: “Ohhh snap 😬*”*
God: “They’ll also be the type to fall in love simply because someone made eye contact with them and all of a sudden, they’re a soulmate.”
Me: “Oh my Lord, Lord. That means they’ll be obsessively clingy about anything that gives them the slightest validation/affirmation.”
God: “Exactly! Now let’s make them sensitive.”
Me: “Sure, how sensitive do you want them, Lord?”
God: “Someone texts them a ‘hi!’ in a neutral tone, and they’re writing poetry about betrayal.”
Me: “Oh my goodness, Lord. That’s very sensitive.”
God: “They’ll build connections that make others emotionally safe.”
Me: “I love it!”
God: “Then confuse that connection for romantic compatibility.”
Me: “Oh, Jesus!”
Me: “What would be their biggest weakness, Lord?”
God: “They’ll have the internal boundaries of a gnat and not even realize it. They’ll avoid conflict like the plague, even necessary ones, leading to resentment and bitterness. They’ll take everything personally, cut off people suddenly, refuse to live in the present, and can’t let go of negative things that happened to them half a century ago, be overcome by perfectionism and chronic overthinking…and…and….what is it?”
Me: “Sorry Lord, that’s a lot of weaknesses. We chose one major one for all the other types, Lord.”
God: “You’re right, I may have overdone myself there. Let’s balance out those aforementioned weaknesses by making them creative and giving them clairvoyance.
Me: “But Lord, as a person this would be the most conflicted, paradoxical human specimen ever to walk the earth.”
God: “Don’t worry, they’ll be rare, old souls. Their struggles will make them extraordinary humans, but only if they manage to get outside of their heads. Let’s make them!”
Me: “Yes, me Lord.”
And the INFJ was born.

Quick Reminder: Your MBTI type is NOT your actual personality!
Just to clarify real quick for anyone seeing this: your MBTI type is NOT your actual personality! I know some may refer to it as a “personality type” for simplicity, but the framework strictly measures natural inclinations in how you prefer to process information and recharge your energy. It does not dictate, measure, categorize, or guarantee specific actions or even behavior.
For example, an INFJ naturally prefers Introversion (I), but they can absolutely behave like an extrovert at a networking event or a party when the situation demands it. The MBTI measures what is happening inside your mind, not what people see on the outside (behavior):
Some online MBTI gurus mistakenly try to predict behavior based on MBTI type, but that’s not what the system is designed for.
The MBTI basically measures a bundle of cognitive preferences your brain takes when processing reality; that’s pretty much it. Your actual personality is a vast, dynamic ecosystem shaped by genetics, choices, and lived experiences. The MBTI does not attempt to categorize, box, or measure your actual personality; that would be impossible.
To see how much vaster your true personality is, look at the layers that sit on top of and beneath those basic cognitive preferences (this is just a simplified diagram; there is way-way more to this):
As you can see, your actual personality is pretty vast; your MBTI and cognitive functioning are a tiny part of it.
