My client stopped taking classes because his girlfriend was jealous
I teach online, and recently I had an Algerian client who lives in France. He paid for a package of classes, and we had our first lesson, which went really well. He seemed genuinely happy with the class and told me he was satisfied with everything.
Then, about a week later, he suddenly stopped attending.
I messaged him to ask if everything was okay. I asked whether he was going on vacation, had been busy with work, or simply wanted to take a break. He told me that his girlfriend was jealous and didn’t want him to continue taking classes with me.
Of course, I respected his decision and didn’t push the matter. What surprised me, though, was that he didn’t even ask for his money back. He simply told me, “It’s okay, you can keep the money”
I found the whole situation quite strange. I understand that jealousy can happen in relationships, but being uncomfortable with your partner taking online classes with their teacher to the point of asking them to stop seems a little unusual to me
Maybe I’m missing something, but I honestly found myself wondering: what exactly was there to be jealous of?
