do i bother

Would parents/caregivers and Childs actually use a GPS safety garment like this?

I'm thinking about designing a reusable underwear/continence-style garment for people (especially children/teens with ADHD or similar needs) who are at risk of wandering/running away.

The basic idea:

  • GPS/GNSS location tracking
  • Cellular connection so a caregiver can see the location remotely
  • Normal updates around every minute
  • A "Runner Mode" that increases updates to around every 10 seconds while the caregiver is actively watching the map
  • Geofencing and alerts
  • Moisture sensor as an optional extra
  • Small vibration motor for reminders/alerts
  • LEDs for visibility if someone leaves at night without cloths on
  • Parent/caregiver app + a simpler child-facing app/web interface
  • NFC for setup/pairing
  • Rechargeable battery (like a 18650 bcs battery life) and removable electronics so the whole garment doesn't need to be thrown away when the electronics need replacing
  • Heart rate sensor (idk might be useful to detect seziure)

The part I'm particularly unsure about is keeping the tracker securely attached to the garment.

The idea is that the tracker shouldn't be something the wearer can casually pull out or lose. I'm considering a proper mechanical retention system (potentially using a special magnetic release tool), while still allowing the garment itself to be removed normally for changing and using the toilet.

I'm NOT talking about making someone physically unable to remove the garment or preventing toilet access. The goal is specifically to stop the tracker itself being easily removed/lost.

why underware? it is because school uniform being bullied for something that says tracker and other resons so it can remain unknown

I'd really like honest feedback:

  1. Would you actually use something like this for a child/young person in your care?
  2. Would you trust a GPS tracker integrated into underwear?
  3. Would securing the tracker to the garment be useful, or would it make you uncomfortable?
  4. What would make you refuse to use it?
  5. What features would actually be useful vs gimmicks?
  6. Would you pay for something like this if it were significantly cheaper than existing specialist tracking products like angelsense?
  7. Does this sound like something worth actually developing, or is there a major problem I'm overlooking?

I'm at the idea stage/asking ai, so criticism is genuinely welcome.

also how it will be secured is smt like the angelsense waterproof
