MDM Recommendations

We’re currently a 99% macOS company, though we may add more Windows and possibly Linux devices in the future. We have about 20 employees, are fully remote, and expect to grow soon.

I’ve been tasked with choosing an MDM solution for device provisioning, inventory, and software management. My only previous experience was with ManageEngine, which felt overly complex and cumbersome.

I’m the DevOps engineer, and we don’t currently have a dedicated IT administrator, so my priority is a reliable solution that requires minimal setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

Our HR team already uses Rippling and has suggested its device management offering, but I’d like to hear about other options. What solution does your organization use, why did you choose it, and how much does it cost?

SaltStack Certified Engineer Verification

I'm hoping someone from the old SaltStack team, VMware, or Broadcom might know the answer.

I earned the SaltStack Certified Engineer (SSCE) certification several years ago. Since SaltStack was acquired by VMware and then VMware was acquired by Broadcom, the original SaltStack website and certification verification page are no longer available.

I'm interviewing with a potential employer, and they're trying to verify my SSCE certification. Does anyone know if there's still a way to verify it? Is there a new verification site, or is there someone at Broadcom who can help?

RODECaster Pro II + Dual MacBook Setup – Plex Audio Issue & Headphone Monitoring Problem

RODECaster Pro II + Dual MacBook Setup – Plex Audio Issue & Headphone Monitoring Problem

I'm running two MacBook Pros (work and personal) through a single RODECaster Pro II:

  • Work Mac
    • Output: RODECaster Pro II Main Stereo
    • Input: RODECaster Pro II Chat
    • Connected via USB 1 (Main)
  • Home Mac
    • Output: RODECaster Pro II Secondary
    • Connected via USB 2 (Secondary)

Issue #1: Plex audio doesn't work on Home Mac

Audio works perfectly from both computers in almost every application. However, on my home Mac, Plex is the only app that won't output audio through the RODECaster.

What I've observed:

  • Plex audio works fine on the work Mac.
  • On the home Mac, the RODECaster doesn't show any incoming audio from Plex.
  • Apple Music, YouTube, system sounds, etc. all work normally through RODECaster Pro II Secondary.
  • If I switch Plex output to the Mac's built-in speakers or headphones, audio works.
  • If I use a different audio interface (MOTU), Plex audio works.
  • The problem only occurs when Plex is outputting to RODECaster Pro II Secondary.

Has anyone seen Plex behave differently with the RODECaster's Secondary USB interface?

Issue #2: Choppy/buzzy headphone monitoring

I have a RØDE PodMic connected to Mic Channel 1.

Current setup:

  • Mic type set to PodMic in the RODECaster settings
  • Gain is properly adjusted
  • Default processing/settings

The issue is that when monitoring myself through headphones connected to the RODECaster, my voice sounds slightly buzzy, distorted, or choppy.

What's strange:

  • If I record my voice and play the recording back, it sounds completely normal.
  • The issue only seems to affect live monitoring in the headphones.

Has anyone experienced this? Could it be related to monitoring settings, processing, USB routing, sample rates, buffer settings, or something else?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
