Favorite shrubs to grow for cut foliage? Pnw native leaning

I’m kicking off a major backyard garden overhaul and curious what your favorite foliage (shrubs) to grow is! I already have huckleberry and salal on my radar, as well as (non native) smoke bush.

What are your garden favorites to clip for arrangements, wreaths, anything crafty use?

What turns a midsize piece into a statement centerpiece? Practice for wild whimsical DIY wedding floral

I’m practicing arrangements in advance of being in charge of all of my friend’s wedding floral next month! I’ve always enjoyed playing in my own garden but in no way am I a real floral designer.

We are going for a very wild, whimsical, informal vibe and I’ve been practicing making mid size arrangements from things growing in my garden and the occasional cheap grocery bloom, as seen here.

What would you change about this arrangement? It feels not quite there but I can’t pin it down. I feel like I’m missing something a trained eye would see right away.

I keep setting out to practice making a really full centerpiece and always find myself stopping at a point that feels more midsized.

Porch possibilities for a 1950s cottage

I’m looking for ways to make the entrance to my home more inviting from the outside while staying true to the 1950s Pacific Northwest cottage style home. The porch landing is tiny and crowded. I live in an area that gets a lot of rain and it would be nice to have a covering, but I’m not sure if the large picture window really allows for much proportionally.

Things I already know I want to do:
- take back at least half of the lawn with native cottage/informal style landscaping
- add a path leading straight to the door
- paint the door maybe a mossy or chartreuse green. Dream would be a dark wood door.

I need help with porch ideas.
