On-campus vs. off-campus housing at Texas Tech - Thoughts?

For those of you who have lived in on-campus housing but are now living in the off-campus housing near Texas Tech, what would you say is the biggest difference between Texas Tech on-campus dorm and an off-campus apartment?

Roommate check! When you decided to live in the off-campus housing in Lubbock, what did you look for when choosing a roommate?

Another sub question: Did you find your roommate before you decided you were going to live in the off-campus housing in Lubbock or after you had found 21 Hundred as a nice apartment near Texas Tech?

For new residents looking for off campus housing in Lubbock, I'm trying to figure out what's walking distance from 21Hundred at Overton Park

Currently have McDonald's, Walmart, and Wingstop on my list. For anyone familiar with the apartments around the Texas Tech campus, anything to add?

Any good study spots for finals week that don’t get too crowded?

I know there are some people living in off-campus housing near Texas Tech that have private bedrooms, but I know that may not be the case for everyone. Any ideas?

With a lot of college students moving into off-campus housing near Texas Tech, I’ve been trying to come up with some items that are important to have on your first day of living alone.

So far, I’ve got toilet paper, hand soap, and a can opener. For people who have lived in an apartment, what are some things that you would say to add? (Keep in mind, most off-campus apartments come with a full-sized kitchen, private bedroom & bathroom, all of that)

For people living in the off-campus housing near Texas Tech, what's something you didn't realize before moving out for college?

For me, it was getting used to buying my own groceries. I moved into an apartment and had access to a full kitchen, but I never realized how stocked up my parents were compared to the bare bones of my own pantry.
