[Alpha] June 9th, 2026 Patch Notes

2.12.0 New Features

  • Paid Voyage users can now convert Credits into usage. Settings includes an option to ‘Auto Convert Credits to Usage’, and an option to manually refill both pools.
  • Converting credits to Usage now shows the approximate amount of turns restored.
  • Multiplayer rooms can now be owned and managed by a server owner who is not currently playing; Owners can open public/friends rooms, manage or close them from Browse Games, configure max players and turn timers, and let players step away or rejoin without losing their character.
  • World creators now have an ‘Allow Remixing’ toggle. When remixing is disabled, other players won’t see the remix action, and remix creation is blocked.

Improvements

  • The Browse Games menu is easier to scan: room ordering is now consistent between refreshes, you can now see the players/status/rating/difficulty of a game, thumbnails fill the media frame fully, full rooms remain visible but can’t be newly joined, and empty rooms no longer reserve blank avatar space.
  • Room admins, not just room owners, can now use /undo and chat control commands.
  • Voyage rooms can support larger parties by default (up to 8).
  • Continuing a save from a save card now uses a shorter loading handoff, so re-entering saves should feel much smoother.
  • The copy of the ‘Invite usage boost’ now makes it clearer that rewards require brand-new account signups.

Bug Fixes

  • Changing a Voyage game mode in Settings now correctly persists, instead of snapping back to the previous/default value.
  • Reopening or rejoining a saved game should no longer get stuck on “Joining game...” when the room is available.
  • Single-player saves no longer show multiplayer-style “returns to the party” narration on load.
  • Dialogue no longer auto-advances when TTS is off or muted; if TTS is turned back on mid-dialogue, the current line can play again.
  • Auto-scroll no longer yanks the story to the bottom while you’re reading older narration; it resumes when you return to the live edge or take an explicit latest-turn action.
  • Quest markers now appear for quest target locations, even when that target began as an unknown map location.
  • Invalid draft worlds now open in the editor with validation errors visible, so creators can repair them instead of being blocked from loading.
  • World generation now produces and repairs wand ability requirements in a valid shape more reliably.
  • Premade NPCs without explicit levels now scale when the party first sees them, and nearby/story context no longer shows placeholder HP values.
  • Companion and NPC state should behave more consistently after NPC updates, deaths, or name reveals.
  • NPC intent generation is less likely to create duplicate player intents from NPC turns.
  • Faction discovery and duplicate prevention should be more reliable, with cleaner faction names/context.
  • Hidden story context should no longer show 'undefined' or 'null' caused by malformed outputs.
  • Voyage NPC portrait cards no longer show a question-mark/broken-image icon when a portrait variant fails to load.
  • The generated image carousel no longer shows an extra Firefox scrollbar.

Deprecated Models (+ Hermes 70b) Removal Date

As we've announced previously, our deprecated models will be leaving us soon. On July 1st, **Deepseek 3.0**, **Mistral Small**, **Mistral Small 3**, **WizardLM 8x22b**, and **Wayfarer Small** will be officially removed from the platform.

Adding to this list, we will also be removing **Hermes 3 70b**, which will be deprecated today and retire on July 1st with the other models. We originally rolled back the deprecation of this model, but we have recently received news that its price to host will be more than doubled in the coming months. This unfortunately makes it no longer sustainable to host on the platform.

We hope that as we usher out these old models, we can make room for new and better ones in the future. Thank you!

  • The new Messaging feature includes a conversation list, friend picker, unread indicators, and a DM thread view.
  • You can now check your friends’ online/offline status on their profile or in your DMs, as well as see when they were last online.
  • DM threads include shortcuts to 'View Profile', 'Block', and 'Report'.
  • Comment replies now show “Replying to @user,” with a tappable username that opens the Mini Profile. Deleted parent comments now show “Replying to a deleted comment.”

Improvements

  • The in-game loading tips were updated to include new community-submitted tips and remove old tips.
  • Toast messages now use a cleaner dark style with 'X' buttons and top-center placement.
  • Scenario edit pages now more clearly distinguish draft visibility controls from information about the published version.
  • Membership and pricing pages were cleaned up to remove deprecated subscription options and old promo entry points.
  • App users now get an explanation on what notifications are for, before the push-notification permission prompt appears.
  • The icon for the Creator Dashboard has been changed into an exploration Compass rather than an unclear box.

Bug Fixes

  • When available, the Context Length slider now starts correctly at the boosted 'Optimized Context' default, and the 'Reset' button returns the model to that boosted default.
  • Players whose native apps fail to load should no longer see a broken-page icon or blank screen.
  • Android gameplay input should (again) stay positioned above the keyboard more reliably.
  • On mobile web, tapping a selected story output while the keyboard is open now closes the input cleanly, instead of closing and reopening it.
  • Text in the Action field now more reliably clears after sending the action.
  • Brand-new adventure/story intro inputs now consistently send as Story actions, including blank or erased intros.
  • Command bar buttons no longer clip on narrow desktop gameplay widths; they switch to icon-only before labels run out of room.
  • Android users can tap Delete from a Saves adventure card menu and see the confirmation modal again.
  • Bookmark changes now update immediately on Saves and Library cards, including removing cards from the Bookmarked filter right away.
  • The notification/reward dot should stay dismissed instead of briefly blinking back on.
  • If notification permission is granted outside the app, returning to the app refreshes the permission state, so push notifications can start without needing to toggle settings.
  • Stripe subscribers are less likely to get stuck when their cancellation flow fails.
  • Multiple-choice Scenarios should no longer accidentally remain Unrated when trying to update the Scenario.
  • Multiple-choice scenario starts no longer get stuck on ‘Loading Selection…’ when launching the same scenario again.
  • Custom prompts used for ‘SEE’ image generation no longer accidentally leak into story-generation context.
  • Players with Google Play subscriptions should no longer see “already have an active or pending subscription” errors when upgrading tiers.
  • Canceling the Android Google account picker no longer shows the scary “Google sign-in is unavailable” message.
  • Opening gameplay settings while the action bar is open now closes the action bar first, so settings keep normal keyboard/cursor focus.
  • On mobile web/app, highlighting settings text no longer prevents being able to swipe down the settings sheet.
  • On iPhone Safari, the Report an Issue sheet now stays above the keyboard instead of jumping to the top of the screen or sinking behind the keyboard.
  • On iOS Safari, success toasts—including Feedback submitted successfully!—should dismiss reliably instead of getting stuck.
  • Credits were restored for players affected by a Dynamic DeepSeek routing issue.

[Beta] June 5th, 2026 Patch Notes

2.11.2 Improvements

  • Messages/DM screens now use the same app header as the rest of AI Dungeon, hide the bottom tabs while chatting, and avoid navigation flashes when moving between the inbox and a conversation.
  • Direct Messages navigation and layout have been polished: desktop threads now have a back button, mobile back behavior no longer loops back into the same thread, same-sender timestamps are less repetitive, and chat menus/list spacing are better aligned.

Bug Fixes

  • Multiple-choice scenario starts no longer get stuck on ‘Loading Selection…’ when launching the same scenario again without refreshing.
  • Custom prompts used for ‘SEE’ image generation no longer accidentally appear in story-generation context.

  • Canceling the Android Google account picker no longer shows the scary “Google sign-in is unavailable” message.
  • Opening gameplay settings while the action bar is open now closes the action bar first, so settings fields can keep normal keyboard/cursor focus.

  • On iPhone Safari, the Report an Issue sheet now stays just above the keyboard instead of jumping to the top of the screen or sinking behind the keyboard.
  • On iOS Safari, success toasts — including Feedback submitted successfully! — should dismiss reliably instead of getting stuck.
  • Credits were restored for players affected by a Dynamic DeepSeek routing issue.

[Beta] June 5th, 2026 Patch Notes

2.11.2 New Features

  • World creators can now choose whether Voyage is allowed to invent new skills during play. Existing worlds keep the previous behavior by default, but creators can now lock characters to the skills already defined in the world config. (Configured with "newSkillGenerationEnabled" in Skill Settings.)
  • Creators can add custom instructions to Summarization in the Advanced area of AI Tasks (“Story Memory”), giving the AI guidance for how to summarize recent and past story context.
  • Creators can turn off feathered rounded borders on region map images, making region maps render as square tiles. (Configured with "regionMapBorderFeatheringEnabled" in "locationSettings".)

Improvements

  • Experimental Story, State, and Audio engine choices are now grouped under an Experimental section so standard options are easier to find.
  • Desktop dialogue controls are clearer: the hints now show ‘→ to skip’, ‘→ to finish’, and ‘Space to pause/resume’, with only the actual key styled as a keycap.
  • Story openings should more reliably use the correct transcript/play format and preserve the creator-authored starting situation details.
  • Oversized game mode configurations now show a clear validation error when they exceed 100,000 characters, instead of failing later.
  • Item updates now use more focused character and location context, reducing irrelevant AI context while keeping the signals needed for inventory changes.
  • Voyage multiplayer can now support up to 8 users.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where invite rewards would not correctly grant usage boosts to players who bring in new accounts if their weekly usage pool was empty.
  • NPC chat and portrait modals now use the same display name shown in the nearby portrait bar instead of revealing the NPC’s true/proper name.
  • On iPhone Safari, the Report an Issue sheet now stays just above the keyboard instead of jumping to the top of the screen or sinking behind the keyboard.
  • On iOS Safari, success toasts — including ‘Feedback submitted successfully!’ — should dismiss reliably instead of getting stuck.

[Alpha] Experimental Feature: Official Multiplayer Rooms

Hey all! There's a new feature in Voyage Alpha that we hope you'll all enjoy: Sponsored Multiplayer Rooms.

In these rooms, we cover the usage. You can join and play without spending any of your own. Check them out by clicking the 'Join a Game' button and look for rooms owned by 'Voyage'!

Some more information:

  • If you join one of these rooms while a game is ongoing, your character will be merged into the existing story and be expected to join in. If the room has been inactive for over an hour, it will reset back to turn 0, so a new game can begin.
  • If you're inactive for three actions in a row, you'll be kicked from the room so others can join.
  • The "partyleader" (previously the host) is auto-assigned as the person who has been in the room longest, and re-assigned when they leave. The Partyleader has in game authority over things like quest-acceptance, skipping turns, travel-intents, etc.

We will have more automated moderation of multiplayer in the future. For now, we ask people to be good citizens, to be respectful and kind, to keep things T-rated (no NSFW), and to jump off after a reasonable session so others can enjoy as well.

Also, if you find people you enjoy playing with, remember to add them as a friend. We just added a new social system that lets you DM your friends, so you can always play Voyage again with them later.

Please let us know if you have any feedback, questions, or especially if you find any bugs. We hope this feature will allow players to enjoy Multiplayer more!

You can play now at https://alpha.voyage.io/browse-games !

[Beta] June 4th, 2026 Patch Notes

2.10.3 New Features

  • World creators can now define custom narration mode options in ‘Game Modes’ to pick when starting a game. Narration modes can also set mechanical difficulty; worlds without custom modes skip this setup step.
  • NPCs now have an optional “True Name” / ”properName” field found in the ‘NPC Editor’ and ‘NPCs’ tab respectively. If the story reveals that name, Voyage can automatically update the NPC’s displayed name.
  • Narrated dialogue can now be paused and resumed. On web, use Space to pause/resume and Right Arrow to advance; on mobile, tap to advance and hold to pause.
  • Image generation surfaces now keep recent generated options in a carousel, so you can browse and reselect earlier portraits or editor/Studio images from the same session.
  • Worlds can now define which attributes affect outgoing damage and incoming evasion/reduction, replacing broken strength/dexterity behavior; found in the ‘Attributes’ tab. (Using 'attributeDamageModifiers', 'attributeEvasionModifiers')
  • There are now 27 new TTS character voices available for selection manually or to be encountered randomly in-game, voted on by the community.

Improvements

  • NPC chat panels are more compact, with portrait, name, health, relationship, and description arranged to leave more room for conversation.
  • Voyage now shows a subtle inline progress message beneath the latest story while the next action is resolving.
  • Action-only inputs like “I keep walking” should be less likely to appear as spoken dialogue, while explicit speech still appears as dialogue when appropriate.
  • Story turns should be less likely to drop bracket-only dialogue lines or stretch finite tasks like carrying, moving, fetching, and cleaning across too many turns.
  • Faction discovery should be more selective, with fewer false discoveries from generic groups like unnamed guards, merchants, professions, places, or vague references.
  • Travel should more reliably resolve to the area you asked for, even when that area appears later in a location’s area list.
  • Newly generated NPCs should use clearer gender fields and tags instead of vague values like “none.”
  • AI Dungeon-specific banners will no longer appear on Voyage, and vice versa.
  • The world edit page now makes it clearer when you are changing draft visibility versus viewing an existing published version.

Bug Fixes

  • Published worlds and mods on Discover and Profile will no longer display the draft version for non-owners.
  • The narrator can add valid world-defined items again, including items with categories like Weapon and stat bonuses like damage.
  • Standard NPCs should no longer receive conflicting combat end-state guidance that says they are both Near Death and dead.
  • In multiplayer rooms, the full party can see new quest offers; only the host can accept or reject them, and non-host players can dismiss the popup locally.
  • Saved games set to public should now appear in public room discovery when the world rating matches the viewer’s filters.
  • Exit World now returns you to the page you came from, such as Home, Discover, Profile, Saves, or World Details.
  • The Story Engine model list now scrolls correctly on mobile web without dragging the bottom sheet instead.
  • Resource rules are more reliable: rest respects resources configured not to recover, and world events should no longer push resource meters above their maximum.
  • Generated carried items like plants and tools are less likely to be mislabeled as wearable clothing just to satisfy slot requirements.
  • Player characters should no longer accidentally become quest givers when they propose work or ask others to do something.
  • Directions toward a region or travel destination should no longer create confusing duplicate-location quests.
  • Host-only room controls are enforced more consistently: non-host players can no longer use /undo, /reset, or feedback-state loading to change shared room state.
  • Waitlist claim links now stay on the successful path to /discover instead of briefly showing the waitlist until refresh.
  • Voyage access and sign-in flows are clearer and are less likely to block users out on accident.
  • UI polish fixes: the down-arrow button stays above the turn separator line, and the mobile chat unread dot appears in the correct position.
  • NPCs should be less likely to generate actions for player characters by mistake.
  • Larger worlds should no longer lose story context when they have a lot of abilities.

[Prod] June 1st, 2026 Patch Notes

2.9.10 Improvements

  • Pages now remember your last spot when you open an item and navigate back, so Home, Discover, Library, and profile/list pages should return near the same scroll position.
  • Publishing image safety messages are clearer, with a simpler copy for safe images, missing/default images, lower-confidence detections, and category labels.
  • Subscribers now see their most recently used story models first in the collapsed model switcher. Free players still see Dynamic Small and Dynamic Large pinned.
  • You can now receive mobile push notifications when creators you follow publish new public scenarios, when you get tipped scales, or for comment replies. Only on supported mobile builds.
  • Longer subscription plans now grant included credits monthly while the subscription remains active, instead of all at once up front.
  • Mobile subscription recovery now gives native-store users better ways to recover purchases: validation failures show a persistent Retry/Get help banner, and error prompts now attempt to restore the subscription directly.

Bug Fixes

  • Search sort choices no longer reset to Relevance after submitting another search, and sort preferences now persist like nearby filters unless the URL explicitly overrides them.
  • Temporary AI moderation failures during rating checks no longer consume one of a creator’s daily rating checks.
  • The AI Instructions editor should no longer flash, revert text, or drop focus/keyboard while editing.
  • Auto Summarization and Memory Bank toggles should no longer visually flip each other or temporarily show values that refresh away.
  • Blank /see image attempts no longer accidentally generate from the previous story output when automatic prompt generation fails; they now ask you to enter a prompt.
  • Cover images with alcohol in them will no longer be labelled as unpublishable.
  • Logged-out visitors can view the pricing page again; choosing a subscription or credit purchase now prompts you to sign-in.
  • Fixed repeat credit-pack purchases on mobile so buying the same pack again no longer hits “already owned” errors from Google Play/App Store finalization.
  • Native subscription displays should no longer show $0.00 total for paid plans when the App Store returns an invalid display price.
  • Several App Store and Google Play edge cases were fixed, so restores, upgrades, renewals, and new purchases recover more reliably when they get stuck.

[Beta] May 29th, 2026 Patch Notes

2.9.8 New Features

  • The Voyage feedback form now shows optional “What’s this about?” category checkboxes, making it easier to describe the issue you’re reporting.
  • You will now see a “Here’s what happened so far” recap when you return to an in-progress game after time away, or when you join a game already in progress.
  • Gemini 3.1 Flash TTS is now available as a selectable Voyage audio engine, with support for character and narrator voice routing.

Improvements

  • Abilities, Skills, and Items now appear as dedicated buttons above the action input. The active menu is highlighted, and the menu opens above the input on both mobile and desktop.
  • After the final story paragraph appears, you can start typing your next action while Voyage finishes updating the game state. Submitting stays disabled until the turn is fully ready.
  • Slower turns should be more likely to finish successfully instead of timing out, especially during longer AI phases.
  • Resource changes should be more accurate: Voyage is less likely to duplicate same-turn health damage or healing, and invalid gain/loss updates are ignored before they affect your character.
  • Voyage UI sounds have been refreshed, and character creation now plays sounds in more of the expected places.
  • Narrator voice choices now show short descriptors like female, posh, british or male, commanding, gruff, narrator to make selection easier.
  • Voyage claim links now redeem directly on the Voyage site, show a brief success confirmation, and then send new players to Discover.

Bug Fixes

  • Starting companions placed in a different area than the selected story start now appear in the opening scene instead of only showing in the party list.
  • Generated quests should complete more reliably, especially when a basic quest has been accepted before detailed quest enrichment finishes.
  • World Editor JSON and exports no longer show embedding metadata fields like embeddingId, embeddingModel, or embeddingDimension, while still preserving those values on save.
  • Typing in the Voyage chat should stay responsive even when the visible chat log is long.
  • Republished worlds now keep their discovery/search ranking data immediately after republish instead of temporarily losing it until the next scoring run.
  • NPC names with smart apostrophes or smart quotes now parse correctly as dialogue and keep stable TTS voice assignments.
  • NPC followers should more reliably appear after travel when the AI refers to them by a known title or alias.
  • NPC-generated buffs now keep their generated details during action resolution.
  • Some tasks should be less likely to truncate abruptly or cause parsing errors.
  • If a story engine safety filter blocks content, Voyage now shows a clearer message asking you to adjust the story and retry.

2.7.16 New Features

  • Scenario creators can now use saved Custom AI Instruction sets directly in the Scenario Editor. Selecting a saved set fills the Scenario AI Instructions field, and creators can save or update reusable global sets from the current text.

Improvements

  • AI Dungeon’s navigation now combines Create and Join into one ‘Play’ menu, making the main play actions easier to find.
  • Gameplay settings now remember the last selected settings tab more reliably.
  • Story Cards now have two clearer view styles: 'grid' and 'compact'. 'List' has been removed for space and clarity. Saved 'list' preferences now fall back to 'grid'.

Bug Fixes

  • Show Less Like This now keeps disliked cards out of Home, Discover, and More Like This. Show More Like This can undo that filtering after the page refreshes or recomputes.
  • Fixed Character Creator’s ‘Create for me’ Story Card flow, so Story Card creation opens with Auto-generate enabled, and creates the card after you provide a name/title.
  • Fixed multiple aspects of Mobile gameplay: fewer dead/black bottom-area issues, larger contained image previews, snappier menus/controls, and more reliable scrolling/padding while the keyboard is open.
  • Fixed Android gameplay input positioning so the main text input bar stays visible above the on-screen keyboard.
  • Fixed additional iOS input focus issues that could jump the page, hide the input behind the keyboard, or make Take a Turn repeatedly open and close the keyboard.
  • AI model settings are smoother to switch between. Memory System and Model Settings should stay visually stable instead of disappearing and popping back in.
  • Choosing Exit game from the Flame Menu now exits directly instead of showing an extra confirmation modal.
  • Fixed Read Mode issues where single-page stories could have the ending clipped by the footer, and changing per-page size could still show the old page boundaries.
  • Resetting AI model settings to their defaults should now stay on the current defaults after reload instead of preserving unnecessary overrides.
  • Scenario Markdown descriptions are now included in AI moderation/rating checks, so published scenarios are rated using the full description content.
  • Fixed several subscription edge cases that could block access or checkout.
