Is this a doable thing and if so how much would it cost

My wife's and my wedding rings (plain gold bands) were passed down from my grandparents. Long story short, one of the rings is now somewhere in the Atlantic Ocean.

Is melting down the remaining one and adding more gold to make two rings a possibility, or are we just going to have to get a brand new ring? Also, in the event it's possible, what's a ballpark of how much that would cost, and any recommendations as to where to take it (based out of Northeastern PA) would also be welcome
