The L symbol (near version)

I haven't really seen this discussed anywhere, and I find this detail from the mangaka very interesting. To provide some context: at the end of the manga, the Japanese police task force gathers for a new case with the cooperation of L (Near). During this, the classic "L" symbol associated with Lawliet shifts to a style more characteristic of Near, distinguishing the change in successor. I like this detail because it highlights a clear difference and adds personality to Near; instead of simply appropriating L's image, he puts his own stamp on it—unlike Light, who literally couldn't—and shouldn't—change anything for fear that a shift in L's behavior would arouse suspicion.

Personally, I feel this detail gives more weight to Near's succession and clarifies that, while they operate under the same name, L and Near are distinct individuals who handle things differently.
