Hysterectomy + ovary surgery (surgical meno) coming up…thoughts & questions 🌹🌹

Hello ladies,

44 yo, BRAC1 positive (mom + maternal great-grandmother passed from Ovarian cancer)

For those who aren’t familiar, having the BRAC1 genetic mutation makes women high risk for both Ovarian and Breast cancer.

I had my tubes + right ovary removed at 40 (left the single ovary to reduce some risk and prevent surgical meno) and a Mastectomy with implant reconstruction at 43.

💊💊💉💉 I started HRT at 42 (E, P and Started T at 43)

After the surgery, I will be in surgical menopause, which honestly terrifies me, but it’s certainly better than the alternative, which is likely cancer.

Here’s the thoughts and questions I’m having and would love to hear from you if you’ve experienced any of this. ❣️❣️

⚪️ what do you wish you would have done differently or known either beforehand or regarding the surgery?

⚪️ if you were on HRT before the surgery, did you increase your dosage after surgery?

⚪️ how quickly did your menopause symptoms begin after the surgery? And have they been manageable with HRT?

⚪️ did you remove your cervix and if no, are you happy with that decision?

⚪️ have you been able Orgasm, either through intercourse or clitoral since having your last ovary removed?

⚪️ anything else you can think of that would be helpful to share

Thank you so so much and if you would prefer to DM, please do.

Thank you! 🙏🏼🙏🏼💖💖
