Behaviors

I did a dna test on my cat because he has some unusual behavior and physical characteristics. His coat always seemed different to me and I’ve learned that it is the “ticked” coat. Which fits to his partial Abyssinian dna result. But I have been wondering more about his behaviors. He is extremely bonded to me. If I don’t sit down immediately with him when he wants attention he follows me around and will eventually grab the back of my leg and bite. Not overly hard….just enough to know he demands attention. He is very anxious. Paces. Yowls. And eventually pees out of the litter box. Has been to the vet many times. No uti, no kidney issue, blood and urine work are all normal. He has multiple litter boxes and food and water just for him. He is in a multi cat house but he cannot seem to tolerate the sight of another cat without going into murder mode. So he is separated from the others but we have a routine where everyone gets time with me and we play and cuddle. He came to me as a stray so his life prior to me is unknown. I’ve had him for 4 years and vet places him at around 7. Having ruled out physical reasons for the anxiety and peeing out of the litter box I was just curious if any of this could be a part of the breed influence? And if anyone has suggestions to help.

Multiple generations in line for the cup warmer

It started with one kitten pushing all cups onto the floor, and now the next generation has pushed him to the grinder and another one in line…

What weird things do you Abys do?

Weird is relative of course, but we have two 8-year-old blue Abyssinians (Findus and Sophie), and one black cat from the shelter, so we have two test subjects and a control.

Findus has some unique behaviors.

He is a tunneler, but only on my side of the bed and only when I’m there. That’s probably not so weird, but for the fact that he’ll happily spend an entire night under a duvet with less air than the rest of us.

He also has developed a habit over the past 3-4 years where he’ll go up to our bedroom and grab a piece of clothing in his mouth and then carry it downstairs and deposit it somewhere on the first floor. Usually something of mine (t-shirts mostly), but sometimes something of my wife’s. He’s brought down pairs of pants and jackets too. Size apparently doesn’t matter. And usually he’ll “cry” while carrying it down.

Anyone else have a cat that brings clothes trophies? Or lives a third of his life with less oxygen?

(Sorry for the typo in the title!)
