Was Delaying Their Date Until July 11 a Good or Bad Decision?
When thinking about the delay, it may seem negative at first glance. However, there is another side worth considering.
Kazuya and Chizuru are not delaying without reason each of them is going through an important phase, and they are likely to arrive at the date with high spirits as a result of the successes they achieve. Kazuya is approaching success in his practical training, which means he won’t come to the date in the same state as before, but rather with a sense of pride and growing confidence. This, in itself, could significantly influence how he carries himself and acts during the meeting.
On the other hand, Chizuru is focused on her stage performance. If she succeeds and receives praise from the director, it would ease the pressure she has been under and bring her into a more stable emotional state. She wouldn’t approach the date exhausted or overwhelmed, but rather more open to accepting what exists between her and Kazuya.
Within this context, there is also a potentially pivotal detail: Kazuya might come to pick Chizuru up by car.
This may seem simple on the surface, but it carries meaningful weight it would be an unexpected surprise for her and reveal a different side of him. A more proactive, self-reliant version, something she is not used to seeing in this way.
Despite these positives, the downsides of the delay cannot be ignored.
Chizuru, despite her attempts to focus on the play, continues to think about Kazuya. This overlap between her emotions and her responsibilities may affect her concentration and make her performance less stable than it could be under clearer circumstances.
Additionally, Kazuya’s absence during this period means she is missing a kind of support she has grown used to support that often helps her bring out her best.
On the other side, Kazuya himself is not entirely at ease either. We can see him resisting Ruka’s temptations by looking at the phone case Chizuru gave him. Despite his progress, he still needs emotional reinforcement, especially under the direct and uncomfortable pressure Ruka places on him. The lack of Chizuru’s stabilizing presence during this time makes him more vulnerable to that pressure.
In the end, the delay becomes a double edged situation.
On one hand, it allows both Kazuya and Chizuru to reach the date in a better state, with higher morale, and perhaps in a way very different from how things might have gone if they had met earlier.
On the other hand, it places both of them under ongoing pressure whether from distraction, absence, or external influences.
