Ubreakifix told me my switch lite had “severe” water damage?
So I took my switch lite (and another regular switch) to a Ubreakifix, and they told me it had severe water damage and wasn’t repairable so I lost my deposit on that.
But I have never had it near any water ever and I had just recently used before taking it in. I didn’t use it for a couple days while I was out of town working, came back and it wouldn’t turn on. I thought it was dead so I tried to charge it, didn’t work, watched some YouTube videos to see about resetting it - still didn’t work. So I made an appointment at Ubreakifix and took it in.
The regular switch was fixed, but I was truly bewildered at them saying it was severely water damaged- so much so I watched my upstairs ring cameras to see if somehow something had happened to it while I was gone. Nothing there. I ended up buying the correct screwdriver to take it apart myself, I notice they cracked the plastic in a couple areas where they pry it apart. No biggie, it’s a minor cosmetic issue.
But I see no evidence whatsoever of water damage.
Do I call them and ask for proof of damage? I want a refund and or a second opinion since I don’t trust them at all now. I’m trying to give them the benefit of doubt and hope they mixed mine up with someone else’s, but I feel kind of scammed.
I’d appreciate any thoughts from others in case I am missing something.
