Kitten needs a home

A month ago a kitten was abandoned on my porch. I have cared for her and she is now ready for a good home. I weaned her and litter box trained her. She is beautiful and I would like to find her an indoor home. If you are interested please message me with information about her possible living situation with you.

Need advice about classroom behavior

For the last few years I have been improving my classroom management to the point that I have very few behaviors in my classroom and great relationships with students. My classroom management is adequate and my principal never has issues with my classroom.

However, I have noticed an issue in my classroom for the last few years. Whenever I have to miss school and a sub takes over, my students act up. Not everyone but enough. Every year I come back to multiple complaints about two or three classes and 4-16 specific students listed as acting up. I do reward classes/students who get positive sub notes. I talk to the classes/ students who get negative notes from subs. I am not allowed to write referrals for negative behavior with subs per principal’s order.

The behavior is very bad, things the students wouldn’t even think to try with me. I seem to get at least one sub each year who just refuses to sub for my class anymore.

I’m asking for advice on what I can do to prevent this pattern from repeating next year. I teach 6th grade and try really hard not to miss school. However, sometimes I have to miss school.

Who are you!?!

I had a student who wanted attention. However, she also needed to work and not socialize. I listened for a moment and then redirected her to her many assignments. She wasn’t happy. She decided to start making weird noises to get student attention. This is 9th hour and last 50 minutes of school. If you let anything slide it all falls apart. I gave her a redirect. A few minutes later she groans really loud and starts giggling.

I tell her to go to the safe seat. She starts yelling. I tell her to go to the buddy room. She continues to yell and scream. I usually have a good relationship with her but she was mad I reported her to the counselors for inappropriate touching the day before. She starts yelling and refuses to leave. I simply tell her to go or I will call the principal down to get her. I start slowly walking and my call button. She starts yelling to call them. I flick the call button and she skedaddles.

The principal came and went to get her. She starts yelling “Who do you think you are?”. In my head I just start smiling because “I’m the Teacher!”.

Sorry, 6th graders throwing a toddler fit makes me laugh. 😂
