How do I fix this dry brushing?

Every time I dry brush I get these chalky splotchy results. Any tips? I've switched to using a cork board instead of a paper towel and still seem to be having moisture problems.

Think I may just force myself to dry brush a ton until it clicks for me.

SANTA Project: Day 5

Stealing Arclight's Nova caT Alphas Day 5:

Finished up with some bases.

Brushed on some Vallejo earth texture, then painted it brown and wet blended in a tiny bit of scarlet for tonal variation. Dry brushed that with a lighter brown.

Added 2 different sizes of flock over 50/50 water/mod podge, then added some happy little trees, and some quartz that I rescued from my sons geode smashing project.

Photos make them look way glossier than they are, not sure how to correct that. I need to work on my photography game now.

Overall really happy with the end results, will definitely do more of this scheme in the future. It was fun to follow along with his real time painting and see how close I could get.

Weekend brawl at the river

See also: how I learned that Nova prime alpha strikes are not the most solid idea. 62 heat, synced down to 28, failed the shutdown roll. Opponent capitalized, 2 PPCs rolled 12 on the hit location table the next turn. ☹️

Stealing Arclight's Nova caT Alphas Day 4:

Cockpit day!

Start with a 50/50 mix of base coats

	Purples

VMC Royal Purple into the upper right corner

VGA Alien Purple into the upper corner, bit smaller (AP Alien Purple for me)

Alien purple + touch of squid and process magenta ink - thicker edge highlights

VGA Squid Pink - thinner edge highlight (ap pixie pink for me?)

VGA Squid Pink + white - even thinner edge highlight

white with a touch of pink - super thin highlight, just in the corner

	Reds

AP Dragon Red (vgc scarlet red for me)

AP Pure Red (vgc bloody red for me)

Citadel Evil Suns Scarlet

VMC Orange Red (AP Lava Orange for me)

Citadel Yriel Yellow (vmc flat yellow for me)

Citadel Dorn Yellow (ap ice yellow for me)

Think I'll be redoing the purple bit, not really happy how that side came out. And dang those panels on the Dasher are tiny!

Designed and 3d printed these to fit in a standard battletech hex, trying to get a feel for if others would like them as well.

I wanted something to use on the table to show where a mech was destroyed, just pulling it from the table seems anti climactic to me. Moddled this and slapped in a watch battery, switch, and led from a cheap tea light. Thoughts, C&C welcomed.

Wife thinks it's too black, I think I cut it to much in the shape of a tornado...
