I have been using Citadel contrast paint for painting Battletech miniatures. I have been using Citadel Grey Seer for priming. I see that its gotten up to $20 a can. I have been considering Army Painter Ash Grey or Vallejo Spray Grey Primer. Any thoughts on differences in Army Painter, Vallejo, and Citadel.
Some recently finished miniatures. Yes the Annihilator still needs some Wolf’s Dragoons decals.
Working on these guys for a while but the Demon Mutts command company is getting close to done. Been a bit of a break between painting but we are back. Next stream I’ll be done. I’m sure of it 😅
I’m happy with the whole company but I think the Archer, Dragon, and the Highlander are my favourite.
Terrain next and once that’s done, battle report!
For some reason, the Flashman was one of those projects that felt like it ended up being harder and taking longer than expected. But honestly, I really like how it turned out overall. It's not perfect, especially in the crevices, but it ended up being pretty colorful with the base offsetting the highlights on the mech, including the painted-on capacitors on the arms. I'm quite happy with how the cockpaint gradient looks like a miniature sun in the driver's seat.
If anyone is curious, the hill on the base was made with Green Stuff and coated in Citadel Paint's Stirland Mud for texture; after painting, model train grass was added to the green patches. Really satisfied with how that looks and will probably be doing more hills in the future.
Though for the most part the Robinson Battle Academy was destroyed in 3144, Baroness Colleen Sandoval realizes she can’t solely rely on Mercenaries to protect Robinson and the Draconis Reach. Diverting mechs from Robinson Standard BattleWorks, she worked to build up her militias.
<enter a bit of unofficial head canon speculation>
Choosing select commanders from among the surviving Robinson Ranger and Striker units, she quickly formed training lances ahead of the complete reconstruction of the Robinson Battle Academy. Forming these small training cadres, she had them training and housing with employed Mercenary forces and their respective landholds. By doing so, Sandoval gets both more seasoned and loyal troops overseeing her thinly stretched forces.
These are two such lances training in urban exercises.
Mech came out well. But this is the first thine using GW’s snow technical. Works well I think.
Re varnish. The mech will be getting an over all matt varnish. Should I hit the snow with a gloss or satin varnish after that? Snow is reflective.

Happy Wrath Month, yall! There's always going to be more of us than them, so keep fighting pushing onwards, my fellow queers!
Almost two years of playing and painting since my brother got me into Battletech. I think I have a problem… I seem to be out of space!
For real though, I can’t wait for Aces: Snowblind to release. I need more Bears!
Falconer in 4th Deneb Light Cavalry colors.
I said I was gonna do one more, and I brought it with this one. I tried a few panel lining techniques on this one, and ended up killing another fineliner (I am sofa king done with Copic as a brand). Finished it all with the #00 out of spite.
First, I know that Battletech isn’t exactly strict about unit colors, and that there is considerable overlap between even rivals in their unit livery.
That being said, I want to paint some of my minis as 5th Galedon Regulars, because I’m a loyal soldier of the DCMS and I like the paint scheme. Problem is, I like all the paint schemes I’ve found for them, but I want the one that would be the most “official”
I’ve seen the mains color painted light gray, almost white/gray, middle-dark gray, bluish gray, and even a tan/gray.,,not quite desert tan, but a gray that leans tan. I’ve seen the accent panels done in powder blue, sky blue, indigo blue,
They all look sharp, but which is “right”. Even if “right” isn’t that important in Battletech, I still want to do it right.
