greedy bartender that receives princess treatment!
i am a bartender/ server at my chilis that happens to be a VERY popular one, i will not disclose location. when i bartend, life is good because i can take tables while bartending and out lounge is huge. sometimes its only high tops sometimes its booths. when it comes to serving, right now we are only allowed four tables even though there is 60 tables in the restaurant because our manager is disappointed in our gwap so until its fixed, servers only get FOUR tables. i understand trying to uphold restaurant standards and i honesty dont mind having four tables when we are slammed. its easier to engage with your guests and make sure everyones accounted for. the issue lies in the AM shifts Tuesday- Saturday when its slow and they schedule like five servers and let the bartender take tables. the bartender takes tables in the dining room and he takes up to six in his section AND THEN takes the lounge on top of that., so if you do that math hes taking up to 12 tables at a time while all the servers take four. not only is it annoying because hes getting all the tables but he also asks everyone to do everything for him. never runs his drink or his own food just runs back to the bar and is usually on his phone. we tip HIM out meanwhile we have 10 min drink tickets and four tables mostly filled with teenagers. the managers domt seem to care one of them said that we are “hating” because he can handle it. so it doesnt even feel worth it to bring it up to corporate because our managers would probably just come down on us out of spite. im about to drop the morning shifts completely because working with him makes me feel like hes taking money right out of my pocket. does anyone experience something like this at their chilis?
