Japanese vintage

Sorry for the double posting quickly. I have a big affinity around Japanese baseball players, have always loved the Japanese culture & history, and it’s an area I’m building a collection around more on the modern side (standard Ichiro, Ohtani, Murakami, etc).

I remember seeing some posts showcasing Japanese league vintage and some backstories/history but I was having trouble finding them. Can anyone point me in the right direction on what would be a great focus area of who to collect and also learn about this sub niche?

Does anyone do trading in here?

More so curious. I find myself with a large quantity of vintage now, and aside from selling to work my way up, would be fun to do some trading too, could be my first trading in 25-30 years hah. I don’t know if that’s a thing done here though or even how it would be done logistically, but figured I’d toss it out there.

FS: Vintage HOF - 1970 Mays $30 shipped, Bench unusual back, Seaver/Brock/Stargell/Yaz + Complete 1970 Story Booklets

First time selling here. I’ve bought quite a bit here and am starting to move some auction/local/eBay pickups as I organize the collection and try to build towards specific upper end targets that I drool over when you guys show them off. Pristine eBay selling track record that I’m happy to reference if anyone has any concerns.

Everything is raw unless specifically stated. I’ve tried to photograph and disclose condition as clearly as possible. Happy to send additional front/back or close-up photos before anyone commits.

SHIPPING: $1.50 PWE for 1–2 lower-dollar cards or $5 BMWT. Combined shipping available. Mays and the complete Story Booklets set already include BMWT shipping.

PAYMENT: PayPal Goods & Services.

1970 Topps #600 Willie Mays - $30 SHIPPED BMWT SOLD
Bottom-right corner has a clear fold/crease with corner wear, shown clearly in the close-up photo. Raw card - please review all photos for condition.

1969 Topps #430 Johnny Bench Sporting News All-Star $25

CORRECTION on the Bench: A knowledgeable commenter pointed out that the puzzle-piece back is actually the normal back for the 1969 Topps All-Star subset. When the cards are assembled, the backs form a larger player image. Appreciate the correction!

1971 Topps #160 Tom Seaver - $8
Visible black-border edge/corner and surface wear. Raw condition as pictured.

1969 Topps #564 Gil Hodges - $8
Raw condition as pictured.

1970 Topps #555 Orlando Cepeda - $5
Raw condition as pictured.

1971 Topps #625 Lou Brock - $5 SOLD
Visible creasing/surface wear plus the typical black-border edge wear. Priced accordingly.

1971 Topps #295 Bobby Bonds - $3
Visible black-border edge/corner wear. Raw condition as pictured.

Willie Stargell Topps pair - $5

• 1980 Topps #1 Highlights — Lou Brock / Carl Yastrzemski 3,000-hit club
Both included for $5.

1980 Kellogg’s 3-D HOF trio - $6 SOLD
Johnny Bench / Tom Seaver / Carl Yastrzemski. Vintage condition with visible edge/surface wear; Bench shows the most noticeable wear. Exact three cards pictured.

1970 Topps Baseball Story Booklets COMPLETE #1–24 set - $85 SHIPPED BMWT
Complete 24-booklet run. Includes Reggie Jackson, Pete Rose, Ernie Banks, Bob Gibson, Willie Mays, Orlando Cepeda, Tony Oliva and others.

IMPORTANT BOOKLET CONDITION NOTE: Condition varies throughout the set. Multiple booklets have visible brown/tan discoloration, staining and/or toning, with #5 being especially obvious and varying degrees visible on several other booklets. There is also age-related edge/corner/storage wear throughout.

I don’t know the cause of the discoloration, so I’m not representing it as water damage, mold, foxing, etc. I’m simply describing what is visibly present. The complete-set and close-up photos intentionally show the condition as clearly as possible. Happy to provide individual front/back photos of any booklet before purchase.

BUNDLE DEAL: Take any 3 listings other than Mays/Booklets and I’ll knock $2 off the combined card price.

Claims in comments are fine - please chat/DM afterward to finalize. First claim by timestamp gets priority.
I’ll update the post/comment as cards sell. Thanks for looking.

2 weeks in, how it’s going

So I’m a whopping 2-3 weeks into discovering there even was a vintage baseball subreddit and collecting focus (which in hindsight is absurd I didn’t realize), and I’ve been soaking everything in, and buying from (probably) too many of you and random auctions I come across. Trying to find my niche within this amazing niche. It literally has me collecting cards for the first time in 25 years.

Comments/advice/input welcome :)
