HELOC with down payment assistance program?
Hello all, new here. I’m wondering about getting a HELOC to add value to my home and make some changes that would be better for my family. My question is- can you get a HELOC if you bought your home with grant $$? I have two liens on the home in addition to my mortgage, one for the down payment which is forgivable after 5 years and another for the difference between my mortgage and what the home is assessed at. My mortgage is $135k and the home is valued at $270k.
And please be nice about my use of a home buying program. I am a social worker and work my ass off, but unfortunately we do not make enough money to buy homes.
Any insight is much appreciated!!
