5FDP right winged?
Hi, my name‘s Michelle. I have a question regarding 5FDP.
I myself do not listen to metal. I’m more of a kpop girly. My boyfriend‘s a metalhead tho and 5FDP is his favorite group. We are both liberals and I say that because I think that it is an important piece of information.
I was never into metal, mostly because of its infamous screaming. I don’t know why but I am afraid of men screaming and acting in an aggressive way. Might be because I got se*ually assaulted by a male family member of mine but that’s beside the point. I like some metal songs when they’re „softer“ or when they simply don’t scream.
I really like mythical kitchen and their last meal interviews. A couple of days ago I stumbled upon Cory’s interview (Slipknot). I knew about Slipknot because my sister used to listen to metal but that was only a phase and because of my boyfriend being a metalhead. He doesn’t really listen to Slipknot, but he definitely knows them and that’s why I came across some of their songs.
So I was watching this interview and then all of a sudden my YouTube algorithm decided to show me all of those metal videos. Some of them are really cool and interesting. Despite not being a fan of the music genre I appreciate their hard work and loyalty to the art.
What really surprise me tho, is that in a lot of metal videos they very rarely talk about 5FDP and I never understood it because looking at their streaming numbers, they should be quite popular but absolutely no one was ever mentioning them.
So I started digging and found out, that apparently a lot of Americans and people in general think that they are a right winged and a conservative band? And now comes my question. Why do people think that?
Here is what I believe. They are a military, veteran, army based group that sings about patriotism, soldiers, veterans and how they deal with PTSD and homelessness. I wouldn’t necessarily consider that as being conservative or right winged. I never watched any of their interview so I don’t know if some of them are Maga or not, but I don’t believe that simply being a patriot or wanting to spark awareness about how veterans are treated, especially in America, is conservative or right winged.
Can someone please help me to understand why so many people, not just in America but also internationally, believe that 5FDP is a conservative metal band 🫣🤷🏼♀️?!
