Getting Started with Actual Budget

I'm stuck on how to get started. It feels like a bit of chicken/egg situation. I added all of my account with their current balances, but it assigns them as income, so I have to place those balances in a category, but that seems impossible unless I track everything back to the beginning of each account (decades at this point for some of them).

Sinking Funds in Actual Budget, Confused

I can't figure out how to track sinking funds accurately in Actual Budget.

How a have been spending:

Each month I budget $150 for Car Insurance and put it into a savings account. When I transfer the $150 to savings I track it on the budget category as "spent." At the end of 6 months I have $900 and pay our Car Insurance with a credit card, then transfer the $900 from the savings account to the checking account and pay the credit card.

How are you tracking the $900 spend on the credit card? I have my credit cards in Actual Budget as accounts, but since I'm paying out of the sinking fund there's no category on the budget to put it in. I can make the accounts accurate, but then Actual Budget will complain about uncategorized transactions.

I budgeted the amount each month, so when I pay it, I don't have any category to put it under.

Device Naming

How do y'all name your devices? For years I've named them what "makes sense." However, now that I actually have a house I'm starting to add in more sensors, switches, etc. I'm finding names that are both unique and obvious more difficult. For example, we have multiple bathrooms so I named the devices there "Upstairs Bathroom Vanity," "Upstairs Bathroom Overhead Light," etc. It begins to make voice commands very cumbersome, but keeping them unique is a challenge.

What do others do? Is this the best system or is there something that can keep the names shorter while also unique and clear?

First Alert SMCO410 and Homey

I’m trying to add the First Alert SMCO410 Smoke/CO2 Alarm to Homey. It has successfully paired and is connected in Homey, but Homey doesn’t seem to know what kind of device it is. It just says “All Good: This device works fine but you cannot control it.” It also doesn’t receive any alarms from the device. Any thoughts?

Looking for Good Travel Card (Visiting Orlando, Maybe CA)

I filled out the template below, but I am looking for a way to earn flights. I've got a few pieces that are making this difficult.

We live in Grand Rapids, MI (flying from GRR airport) and visit Orlando perhaps once a year, maybe more. We'd prefer to fly from GRR to MCO directly, however there are very few non-stop flights on this route.

Allegiant flies direct to SFB near Orlando, so I think we're stuck with Allegiant. Unless anyone has a better route, I think I may be stuck with Allegiant and the SFB airport.

I'd like to find a way to save up miles/points/rewards to cover the flight cost (usually around $800), and maybe help with a rental card. I got the Allegiant credit card, but it is awful. It makes 3x on Allegiant, but that's like $20 a year and 2x on everything else. My Citi and Disney cards are the same or better.

Is there something out there that would help me?
