When seeing the Tour in person, is it better to try to catch the start or the end of a stage?

Hi! I’m trying to plan out some travel around the time of next year’s tour really early, and I was wondering: for people who have been able to see the tour in person, would you recommend being there for a stage start or a stage finish? Or alternatively, what are the pros and cons of each option? Thanks so much! :)

I was exposed to a bat and got PEP, but should my family do so too?

I have read the FAQ. Details of the event are as follows:

Location: Spain

Date: Yesterday (June 23rd)

Animal: Bat

Type of exposure: Scratch

Vaccination Status: PEP vaccine 1/4

The story is as follows:

Last night, a bat flew in through a window in my house and pretty much crashed directly into my arm, scratching me a little. This spooked the hell out of me and I ran away. I couldn’t see where the bat went, and never technically saw it leave, but my family and I have searched the house quite thoroughly and cannot find it, so it might have just left through the window again.

The day after this whole thing happened, I went to urgent care and was administered my first dose of PEP, as I was scratched. But my question is: should PEP be administered to the rest of my family too?

- One of my family members was sleeping with her door open, the bat could’ve flown into her room and made contact with her somehow.

- On a similar note, another person in the house was sleeping with her door closed, and I definitely know she was not exposed to the bat on that particular night. Still, I do know that they had been sleeping with her window wide open for the last few nights due to a heatwave, so I’m a bit paranoid thinking that, maybe, a different bat could’ve flown into her room on a different night, especially now that I’ve seen that they apparently roam around here.

If it were up to me, I would give them the vaccine just to be absolutely safe, but the actual doctors were not really open to the idea. However, they also openly admitted to not being familiar with rabies prevention efforts, bats, or… most things, really. Hence why I am taking to Reddit for right now.

So, should I fight this and insist on the rest of my family being vaccinated, or should I let it go?

Thank you so much!!

Does the HPV vaccine “mask” the virus?

Hi, hopefully this won’t come off as incredibly ignorant!!

So, the HPV vaccine is the only vaccine that my parents did not consent to me getting when I was in still in school. They made this decision after a family member - a doctor no less - told them that the HPV vaccine had the risk of affecting future HPV tests by “masking” the virus. In other words, I’d still have the virus, but the vaccine would lead to a false negative on the test.

I was at a gyno appointment recently and she highly recommended I get vaccinated, which I am very happy to do. However, when I asked my parents why they hadn’t vaccinated me and they told me the above, I got a bit concerned. I’ve been looking online and can’t find anything saying that the vaccine can mask the virus, but I also can’t find anything saying the contrary that isn’t just an AI answer from Google, which I don’t really trust.

Does anyone know whether this thing about the HPV vaccine masking the virus is true? Or, alternatively, why it isn’t true? I will probably get the vaccine either way, but I’d like to know the story behind what my parents were told. Thank you so much!!
