Some more molybdenum disulfide experiment’s.

Made some blue moly color by mixing Chinese cobalt tubing with molybdenum disulfide.

Tried a blow out with it and made that into a honeycomb implosion. I also Coiled up a stick of it and sleeved it in simax to make a pipe out of it.

Just got an old ceramics kiln and will be trying to make this color in a crucible soon. Hopefully it works so I can sell this color to the people for a reasonable price. Or tell someone else how to make it so they can make it for us.

Some of that molybdenum color I made worked.

It’s pretty damn stiff lol. And it wants to be heated slowly. The molybdenum seems to lower its thermal conductivity. You can get it decently hot but you gotta take your time to work it up to that temp. It also likes to de-vit faster than most colors and clear do. I suspect that’s due to how I make it. Just need to some borax fume at the end it’s it back to new.

What steel to use for ladle head

Need a ladle for my furnace and am not sure what type of steel would work best for this application. I feel like stainless steel would be a terrible idea due to extreme thermal stresses.

Found this pipe end cap made from mild steel that looks perfect for ladle head but idk I’m a glass blower not fabricator so what do you guys think.

Lunar glass gold ruby color test.

The Dino is just strait gold ruby. It’s decently soft and easy to melt. I’d say the NS-karmaline is definitely stiffer and a hint lighter in color than this stuff. I’ll probably stick with karmaline for a gold based pink as it’s a bit cheaper and made in America, but the lunar stuff is very close to MA in quality and bubble content from everything I’ve tried so far.

Rainbow UV over black looks so juicy. Crazy thing is it looks even better in person.

The green, yellow, and orange all contains uranium. The other 3 colors are europium and possibly Samarium( still haven’t confirmed the reds oxides content)
