Today i realized that

Today i realized that

I'm the same weight as sonia and the same height as kazuichi, i also am 17, so that's a boring not-fun fact

Tsumugi believers, explain this

And i don't mean the people who believe some of what she says and question some other parts or even believe most of what she says but don't buy some aspects, no, i'm talking the people who buy 100% of what she said during the trial

Personal note :- whatever she was referring to as the imitation it automatically puts into question everything she said, idk who she was imitating but i doubt she meant junko, she said flawless right until the end but the "end" of her plan seriously differs from anything junko or the remnants did, she hyperfixated on the whole fiction aspect and the reality of the students or lack their of, that was like 95% of the trial, so who was she imitating ? It makes the nature/reality of this specific killing game that much more ambiguous given we basically know nothing for certain it's all questionable claims from an unreliable narrator, which puts into question, if all of that isn't the truth, then what is ? Where does the truth end and the lie begin ? The line is more blurry than ever

Personally, i think it's literally impossible to know, and i think ultimately, the ultimate "truth" doesn't matter, whatever the world has to offer they'll face it head on, whether they're "real" or not it doesn't matter as both lies and truths can have a significant impact on the lives of others, which, surprise surprise, is the whole point of the game, it doesn't matter if they're real or not

(Side note :- i personally really dislike the ending and especially tsumugi but that's a whole other discussion, just wanted to throw that in)

To all the people who act like tsumugi's words are gospel truth

The floor is the same as the one in tsumugi's lab,

Plus the angle is very weird like it's trying to hide something, we know tsumugi is very good with camera angles and such which was even alittle useful in the 5th trial, TL;DR 99.999% tsumugi shot that video and pretended to be the other students,

And before you say "b-but cospox !", i want to remind you of the scene she tried cosplaying kaede, in retrospect it's very weird don't you think ?

So, cospox, it's either 100% a lie or literally proves she is a massive liar, in the only instance we see it at play, she cosplays kaede, who is a fictional character according to her,

if cospox is real then here it literally proves the cast and their current identity as ultimate students are real people and not pre-written or a work of fiction given she couldn't cosplay kaede,

or she made up the whole thing still making the whole ruse questionable because it shows how much of a liar she really is that her condition isn't even real and she just made it up, if it is made up then it's a 50/50 on whether they're real or not given her condition is no longer an accurate way to prove or disprove their real-ness

You could say kaede is technically a real person because she was cast as a real person so in the danganronpa v3 universe she physically exists unlike say hajime who in universe is a game/anime character from the danganronpa franchise, which i'll say the fact she's physically real doesn't make her any less fictional to tsumugi, given she didn't make the distinction between fictional characters who are played by real people and fictional characters who exist in like cartoons or anime or games,

and even then reminder that she stated that the only reason she didn't cosplay as any other danganronpa character that isn't from thh or sdr2 is because the v3 cast have no memory of anything from the other 50 killing games, in other words she could cosplay as someone from say danganronpa 52 but actively chooses not to given their memories are only on the first 2 killing games,

given we know at a certain point the franchise started using real people, it means she can cosplay these "real people" and they are fictional characters to her but she just chooses not to because of their memories, given, again, her reason was just their memories and not the franchise's inclusion of real people, given rantaro was from a previous killing game it means she technically could cosplay him, and rantaro is as real as anyone else from v3

(There's also the lame option of cospox being real, the cast are fictional, tsumugi just pretended to have it infront of kaede not to seem suspicious, it'd still be off why she even brought it up to begin with, given she could've said nothing and just cosplayed kaede and no one would bat an eye)

There are alot of other intentional inconsistencies but point is, nothing tsumugi said is meant to be taken at face value, and that's by design

(Also for the cospox part i copied most of it from a comment i made before, words, too much words, but still they're *my* words, so it's okay to copy paste it i think)

Is kokichi an "antagonist" ?

This is a genuine question, does kokichi even count as an antagonist ?

Because while on one hand he is a trouble maker and often feels chaotic, at the same time he literally never does anything to be a genuine obstacle, all of the time he was either on his own trying different things to end the game, or he's trying to help shuichi or tries to make him work alongside him, and unlike say nagito or byakuya, he was never a real threat, he pretended to be, but he was never an actual threat,

Both nagito and byakuya weren't exactly always on the group's side while kokichi did everything for the group, you could argue nagito also devoted himself for his respective cast but he was just trying to create hope by any means regardless of the wishes of the students themselves, they didn't want the killing game to start yet nagito initiated it anyway to further his idea of hope thus i believe he is an antagonist because his views and goals often clash with those of our protags, on the other hand there is kokichi who's goals and intentions always alligned with those of the protags but he only made it look like they aren't, kokichi's greatest (understandable) mistake was his paranoia and lack of trust, he always preferred working alone and made everyone distrust him which caused the others to view everything he does in the worst lens possible,

So in a way, to me he's closer to antagonised than just antagonist, even if the antagonization is the catalyst of his flaws and actions when viewed on a surface level

Cold take (i think) :- Junko is underwhelming and overhyped

I'll say the little positives i have first, i really like her in the 6th trial in sdr2, that's all

"She's the ultimate analyst"

"She's a master manipulator"

"She has insane influence"

"She's a master leader"

She only survives on statements, legit tell me tf does junko do that deserves any hype,

We're told she's intelligent, we're told she's good at predicting and analyzing, we're told she's good at manipulating, but never shown

When they had the opportunity to *SHOW* her "skills" by causing the downfall of class 77-B aka the remnants of despair, nah she just brainwashed them, not just brainwashed them, brainwashed them using someone else's talent, she alone can't do jackshit

Genuinely, all we see of her is a scatterbrained obsessive girl,

Her ideology is undercooked, i'm supposed to believe she's a "force of nature to be reckoned with" but she has zero threat or presence and genuinely never did something that wows me or makes me buy into a fraction of the hype,

Legit kokichi is better at her job than her and he isn't even a villain or hell isn't even a bad guy (alittle subjective but his end goal objectively isn't villainous)

She's so so so overhyped in terms of everything but she never actually does anything let alone anything impressive

She's just underwhelming, fun at small doses, but just annoying if attempted to be taken seriously

You can say "oh it's danganronpa it's not meant to be taken seriously" Doesn't change that her writing is shit, every other villain is better than her this excuse is just cope

(This is not objective this is just my opinion you can like her or see something in her that i don't)

Huge plot-hole

I don't need to over-explain it, in sdr2 they state what the remnants of despair did using junko's body like nagito replacing his hand, fuyuhiko replacing his eye, and the thing mentioned in the image,

Idk if they remember how junko died it's a major inconsistency given there's literally zero chance they could do anything with the condition of her body, reminder, her hand was in pristine condition on nagito

Like i don't mind the darker aspect they tried to put into the remnants, but they disregarded canon and logic just to add shock value, again, i don't mind it, but i do mind it not making sense it's having shock value just to have it despite it going directly against canon

Kaito could've stil won

He had the perfect opportunity, it was so simple yet a gaurantee for the plan to work as kokichi intended, all kaito had to do was in the end of the trial, after getting out of the existal and declaring himself as the real culprit, after monokuma says that they got it right and that kaito was indeed the killer, kaito simply has to say that he isn't the killer, kokichi could've still died by either the hydraulic press or the poison, there's no way of knowing, making it a false verdict given it's literally impossible, and monokuma can't declare the vote wrong given he just declared it as the correct answer

He could also say kokichi died by the poison first then was put in the hydraulic press making the killer known and the verdict 100% false not just a 50/50 even if he is lying, monokuma can't know for certain

I think kaito didn't do it because he didn't want to endanger maki and saw that shuichi and the others made significant progress and can defeat the mastermind on their own

Kokichi's plan was flawless with no risks

Okay i kinda lied, there's one teeny tiny *MAJOR* flaw in the plan, like on a fundamental level, the voice changer, it was just pure convenience, you could maybe say kokichi comissioned miu to make it but i don't think that's the case given by the time miu died he would have little to no reason to ask her to make it at that point as he didn't create this precautionary measure plan until chapter 5 anyway, also it probably would've been mentioned if that was the case when monokuma said kokichi comissioned miu to make the hijacking remote thing, and if the voice changer is built into the exisals, why ? Literally why, they're operated by the monokubs what use would they have for a voice changer,

That's the one thing that's hard to get past with the plan and if you believe it's bad because of that given it's a fundamental part of the whole thing i honestly don't blame you, now allow me to explain why the plan is genius (unfortunately it's not perfect given the whole voice changer thing so i'll just ignore it)

The plan is very simple when you think about it, kokichi realised monokuma is a stickler to the rules early on, while the game is happening kokichi understood monokuma more and more, deducing that monokuma is obsessed with making things more interesting, and that he can't break the rules as he pleases and is heavily restricted by something

So the plan was, disable whatever method monokuma has of monitoring them using the electrobomb, and create a mystery even monokuma couldn't solve,

The worst criticism i heard on this plan was :- what made him think monokuma wouldn't just execute anyone and rule it as correct/why wouldn't monokuma just rule anyone as the killer,

He had all the reasons to believe that this wouldn't happen, first he tested the water with monokuma so many times before and knows what monokuma can and can't do, when he realized the existance of an audience that's the nail in the coffin, the killing game runs on authenticity, that's why monokuma sticks to the rules and can't do as he pleases, that's also why monokuma always tries to make things more interesting,

Kokichi believed if the most important aspects of the killing game (those being fairness/authenticity) were now proven to be a lie it would ruin the authenticity, and when that happens the game becomes completely pointless, again, that's why monokuma is so careful not to break the rules, if he does the game loses it's authenticity,

So that's why kokichi did the plan like this, he had all the proof monokuma is heavily restricted by the rules and can't break them, he figured out the existance of an audience and realised if he struck at the core of the killing game (that being the authenticity) and invalidated it, if monokuma broke as much as one rule it'd remove all the importance of the rules and remove the fairness of it all, thus the game simply can not function anymore

Also, his hand was forced, he could either just submit to the poison and let the game continue, or throw in his last desperate attempt, he literally loses nothing by doing this, it was either do nothing and die and completely fail at your ultimate goal, or do this final stunt that has a not-so-bad chance of working

Also it posed no risk given kaito could abort the plan at literally any point in the trial if he sensed monokuma would casually just kill someone for no reason, the reason kaito was atleast alittle sure the plan could work is him seeing monokuma's stress and fear from him not knowing the real cuprit so he saw first hand that kokichi was actually probably right, and if kokichi wasn't right he'd just reveal himself and that's it

Reminder that both kaito and kokichi were going to die anyway, both had absolutely nothing to lose and as i explained the plan had basically no risks

And because i know someone will mention it, regarding the infamous "script" i made an entire post of why it makes sense and how alot of people just misinterpret it for something it clearly isn't, here's the post if you're interested :-

Anyway, that's all i have to say i think

Mine is easily megumi ogata's nagito, if you haven't heard it before you're seriously missing out on peak voice acting that gave me chills alot of the times and fits the character insanely well i can't imagine anyone else playing him, the range on this woman is insane

u/mid-sora — 16 days ago

I totally believe that if you think he's well written or has any substance you're just being delusional, true media literacy is realizing he has no writing or thought and is just hammering the point of "the game is about truth vs lies and i represent lies"

He's a terrible foil to shuichi (he totally is shuichi's foil don't question this statement),

He has no nuance and no truth he's just a cheap character that lies all the time a toddler could write him, he has no real emotions and doesn't feel attatchment or care towards anyone, he suddenly gets redeemed post mortem and is just retconned to be out of character to fit the forced narrative of him being a good guy all along (the point was him being 100% a good guy and being "redeemed" and not him being morally complex/grey and that he has both good and bad without being completely one or the other)

This is 100% not sarcasm it's objective truth and i 100% hate kokichi and think he's a trash character

I'll just cut to the chase, it's the fanservice, it's an extremely questionable decision given that oh idk they're constantly sexualizing minors,

For danagnronpa 1 you could make an excuse that physically they're around 19 given they already spent 2 years in hope's peak, but still i think it's weird given mentally they're reset back to how they were 2 years ago so aside from the physical aspect any development or aging/maturing they went through throughout these 2 years basically never happened (they also never regained their missing memories either even after the killing game ended) so for all intents and purposes those are still minors

Sdr2 is much worse in that regard, there's no argument for it, they're minors both physically and mentally thanks to the neo world program, and the fanservice is much worse here, i haven't watched thh in a while so maybe i'm wrong but there wasn't that much fanservice in it anyway, on the top of my head i can only recall around only 2 scenes, but in sdr2 it's noticably way more, also, mikan, how tf do you mishandle a character that much especially with her trauma in mind and make her material for your disgusting scenes to please the weebs in the fanbase, i could really go on about how disgusting it is (the way they handled mikan i mean) and how it's incredibly tone deaf and insulting to people who have similar trauma, but i digress

Drv3 could get a pass given the characters ages aren't really known given they aren't even from hope's peak, also the memory of them being from there and being "humanity's last hope" or whatever was also just a fabrication of the flashback light machine, so yeah idk their ages, i still view the fanservice as cheap, but atleast the legality is questionable and not as blatant as sdr2

I know there are alot of other things i can criticize the series for but this is one i don't see much people talk about almost like it's normalized, i do know most of the fanbase are minors anyway but it still doesn't change how weird of a decision it is from the writer's prespective, sexualizing minors is wrong in any context and there's no execuse for it, it's just weird why a writer would have his series about teens killing each other put said teens in these totally unnecessary scenes that literally add nothing to the game or hell in mikan's case it actively makes it worse, just rely on good writing to keep the players engaged for god's sake and drop that cheap method
