Possible Halcyon Removal bug and how to fix it

I ran into a weird issue with Halcyon and wanted to post this in case someone else gets stuck with the same problem. Essentially, I played most of the game without collecting much of it and even beat the Architect with only ~12 Halcyon collected total, 8 of which I found in the first biome.

I had already collected all the Halcyon from the first biome and some from the later ones. At some point, I enabled the Carcosan Modifier that removes Halcyon from the game (and gives you those sweet +6 in the balance). Later, I disabled that modifier because I wanted to start collecting it again.

The problem was that Halcyon never came back.

The World Dial still showed plenty of it remaining in the later biomes, but I couldn't find any during my runs. Even Nightmare Strands always gave me zero.

My theory: It seems like the game can potentially get stuck in a state where Halcyon Removal remains active internally even though the modifier is no longer selected.

Here's how I solved it, based on a bunch of posts I found online:

  • Go back to the Passage and open Carcosan Modifiers
  • Disable all modifiers and lock in the new configuration by pressing triangle
  • Fully close the game from the PS5 dashboard
  • Relaunch the game and start a fresh run with no modifiers enabled in a biome where the world dial shows that you still have Halcyon left to collect
  • Once Halcyon starts appearing normally again, you can go back to the Passage and reenable the modifiers you want

Hopefully someone else finds this useful if they're looking for a solution.

Just drove through Rosendale in the rain and came home inspired to make this meme

Haven't seen a Rosendale post here in a while. Decided to fix that 🤷

Been playing a lot of Skyrim lately and I think it started leaking into my dreams.

The other night I dreamed a Whiterun guard was standing like this at Alvor's smithy in Riverwood, looked at me, and said this exact phrase.

P.S.: I have a theory that posting dream memes worthy of r/thomastheplankengine somehow makes you have more of them.
