Pimple patches on pubes?!?
Are we really doing this? I’ve taken them off 3x and it hurts! Can’t shave because it spreads. Even with an electric razor with a guard attachment. Any suggestions? or we all just ripping our pubes out with pimple patches?

I’ve been single for almost a year after a long term relationship. About 6 weeks ago I noticed a few bumps. I briefly mentioned it to the NP at my annual physical. No visual exam was performed because we focused more on discussing hormone disruptions related to my current birth control and plan to follow up with Gyn. A week later I went to the health department walk in std clinic and asked for an HPV test. They said they don’t test there, but if I want to test for everything else, the nurse can do a visual inspection. She said it didn’t look concerning, more like an irritation from shaving. 2 weeks ago I got my PAP. At the appointment I pointed out the bumps and asked about them, the gyn resident said it looked like folliculitis/ ingrown hair/ pus/ irritation. She suggested witch hazel exfoliation. First got results and treatment for BV. Last week just before work the portal got results for ‘epithelial cell abnormality, atypical squamous cell of undetermined significance’ and ‘HPV other high risk types PCR’. The nurse called the next morning and said I would need to schedule a colposcopy. I asked about the bumps. She said there was no mention of the bumps in my chart, so I would have to go to urgent care to get an exam, then call back to update my upcoming appointment. I went to the urgent care yesterday for the visual exam of the warts and asked to put a note in my chart so my gyn could take care of it.
I shaved with an electric razor prior to the urgent care visit, to help visibility. (because I had 2 people look at it and say it was nothing. I didn’t know that would make the warts spread.) Within 2 days they grew in size and spread new ones. It’s now uncomfortably rubbing on my underwear and bothering me to walk & sit. My colposcopy isn’t for another 2 weeks.
It’s very anxiety inducing not having talked to my doctor. By time my appointment gets here it’ll be 3 weeks since I got the results from the nurse over the phone. I can’t ask what I can do, what supplements to take, etc. I’m also worrying because my aunt on my mom’s side had cervical & uterine cancer. I haven’t seen my therapist since I got my results, but I typically have video visits every other week.
I’m feeling discouraged about the sudden pause to my dating life for who knows how long. Just before this happened, I stopped talking to/ sleeping with the 3 people I’d been seeing casually here and there. I have grown in my therapy and I was feeling ready to love someone again and want more than a casual fwb relationship. 2 of them don’t meet the standard for that and the 3rd met someone else. I’m back to the dating apps and want to meet new people and go on adventures, but this is really getting in the way. I feel like I don’t deserve to find love while this is happening. I feel like I should stop talking to the one guy I like right now. I feel like I shouldn’t even be having fun and going on dates.
This summer will be 5 years as a nurse and 3 years as a circulator/ night shift charge nurse at a level 2 trauma center. I’m comfortable in ortho, general, neuro, plastics, podiatry and vascular (other than knowing where things are in the hybrid room). I have had a handful of ENT, GYN and urology thrown at me and made it through. I don’t have as much experience as someone who works during the day in regard to quantity of cases because some nights we don’t have cases. But on the other hand, working at night we have one team in house so there is no support. And I do a lot more trauma cases than elective cases.
One of the things I worry about is being canceled or sent home early in shift as a traveler due to low census in the OR. And how that would affect stipends if I’m not getting my full hours.
Another thing is the logistics of having 2 cats. I’m single and don’t have anything tying me here other than the cats. I have seen that some people take cats with them. Spread driving out over multiple days, try to take extensions to move less often, etc.
I’m not sure if it financially makes sense for me because I gross 110k with my overtime and call I pick up for others. Net 70k after taxes, insurance and 403b contributions. I would probably do private insurance so I’m covered between contracts.
I think I want to do it more for the travel itself than the increase in income, but I also don’t want to be making less. I recently went to Hawaii and now got the itch to see more of the world. I have decent pto I could use to see more places… but I could be living there seeing them, and find out where I’d want to settle down.
I have about 6 months left on my year rental lease (then would go to month-month) before trying my first travel contract. I’ve heard that it’s best to have 3 months of income saved up before leaving the stability of a staff job. That would be roughly 8k. I also have around 8k in credit card debt with zero interest until February. How do you balance building that savings and paying off the debt? Do i prioritize saving the safety cushion and transfer the balance when February comes? Use the travel income to pay off the debt? Any other advice regarding new travel nurse preparations? My plan would be to try a travel contract or 2 in my home state before downsizing my ‘tax home’ from my 2 bedroom duplex to a 1 bed or studio apartment when I advance to taking contracts out of state.
