Peony bloom petal drop from the heat? Or animal damage?
Hi folks, new peony grower here! This morning I was shocked to see the 3 oldest of the four blooms on my peony had dropped most of their petals. Does this look like normal petal drop, or animal damage? They only opened up 3 days ago, so it seems awfully fast for the blooms to be finished, but we’ve also been having a few days in the mid 90s F, so I’m guessing the heat knocked them out? Or is this normal? This is my first year with blooms, and would have loved them to hang around longer, but so happy I got them while I did! Also attaching a pic of the bloom in its glory. Thanks for any insight!
