Proof that Michaels doesn't give a crap about it's employees (as if we needed more)
Yesterday was the 4th of July. Independence Day. Also the 250th. Something special, right? Even if I had wanted to celebrate (which I didn't, because I have a small, anxious dog at home trying not to shit himself inside out), I wouldn't have been able to because I'm at the store doing siso. Got to spend half a day yesterday in an essentially empty store until 6... and have to be in bed by 9 to get at least 8 hours of sleep... that is, if the world wasn't fucking exploding until well past midnight. So now I get to come to a store that's completely recovered to help... who? Everyone attempting to blow their fingers off last night? Pretty sure today is going to be another dead day, but god forbid we lose a few bucks for that one person who forgot to buy popsicle sticks yesterday. Pretty sure the cost of keeping every store open and running for 2 days where we might get a dozen customers isn't cost effective enough to justify being open.
If a company isn't willing to let its employees celebrate their country's birthday, especially a landmark one, and insists on blowing money out its asshole keeping stores open when the ROI doesn't make sense any way you cut it... makes me feel icky. Am I just being overly sensitive here? What's your take? Money over humanity is ok?
