Removing resin 🤦🏻‍♀️ - advice?

I've worked with resin before on small projects so I am familiar with the safety practices, how to prevent bubbles, general curing rules, etc.

Unfortunately a family member took on a project I specifically asked him not to do, and the result is a beautiful piece of 50 year old live edge wood filled in with bubbly, cloudy, dirty, resin. There were two retirees involved in this crime and I can't get any solid information. I suspect it might be not properly cured as well but I am unsure what was used, how it was mixed, if there was water contamination, etc...

How might I get the resin out of the knots and start fresh? Do I try a heat gun? I have access to many tools and am willing to put money and time into salvaging this.

I picked up a second-hand chair that looked to be in almost new condition. It was wrapped in plastic when I got it, and the seller said it came from a pet- and smoke-free home.

As soon as I unwrapped it, there was a strong urine + febreze smell. The weird part is there are no visible stains, discoloration, or signs of wear at all. The cushions underneath the covers are white as if it's never been used.

So far I’ve:

- Removed all the covers and have them soaking in enzyme cleaner + laundry stripper

- Sprayed the non-washable parts (frame/foam) with enzyme cleaner and left them outside on the deck

I am wondering if this was from a home with an elderly person. I don't have pets or kids, but I assume if there was urine directly on the chair it would show a stain?

Anyways send help, I'm frustrated!
