Gina Carano had a memorable post-fight interview 2008

Gina Carano had a memorable post-fight interview after defeating Kaitlin Young at the historic EliteXC: Primetime card headlined by Kimbo Slice vs. James Thompson on May 31, 2008, at the Prudential Center.

Carano won by second-round TKO (doctor stoppage) after dominating Young with striking and nearly finishing with a rear-naked choke before the bell.

In the post-fight interview on CBS, Carano thanked the fans and talked about wanting to prove women’s MMA belonged on major television. The fight became one of the biggest showcases for women’s MMA at the time and helped make Carano one of the sport’s first mainstream stars. The event itself was historic because it was one of the first nationally televised MMA cards on prime-time network TV
