Potted Roald Dahl

First bloom of of my potted Roald Dahl in its second season. Pictures don’t do it justice either in my opinion, looks like it’s glowing when the sun hits.

Whilst I change my mind most days, I think this might be my favourite rose in the garden!

Queen of Sweden Help

I have a queen of Sweden - pictured, and have always struggled with lack of blooms and also the length it takes to bloom. I have several other DA Austin roses that thrive in the same bed inc. Gabriel Oak, Desmedona and Lark Ascending.

This year in particular it is being very fussy, with a lot of aborted blooms. It is showing signs of having a couple of buds blooming, but I just can’t figure out why it struggles.

For context, it’s been in the spot now for 3 years, overall has very healthy foliage and gets 6-7 hours of sunlight a day. I’ve fed it start of season and continue throughout the season.

I’ve looked at why this might be only, but there are so many varying potential problems. My latest one is that the soil may be calcium deficient, but again, doesn’t make sense when I have so many other healthy roses in the same bed.

Any ideas/commets would be much appreciated ☺️

Great peony season

Coming to an end for my peonies but have had a great bloom this season. The first picture starts as a deep coral but was amazing towards the end of the bloom and the colours were fantastic. Can’t beat a classic white either, had so many buds this year!

Can anyone help suggest the name/breed of this rose?

This rose has been in my garden since I moved in and was planted by the previous owner. Unfortunately there is no labelling on the base and I have always been intrigued on what exactly it is. It’s grown to about 6 feet this year and has very few thorns. I don’t think it’s a climber but a large shrub. Potentially Gabriel Oak by David Austin, but it may be too darker a red for that?
