Ann Don’t Cry lyric

Does anyone find “And lock up the shots again” to be a very effective lyric, and if so, why?
It works for me on a few levels, primarily phonetically and visually.

1998-1999 Pavement

I can say with confidence that Wowee Zowee and Brighten The Corners will always be my favorite albums. Pavement's fecundity from 1994-1997 is particularly astonishing to me, perhaps on par with eruptions of genius we've only seen from Dylan, Neil Young, the Stones. While I consider this stretch to be Pavement's finest, I do not find myself as curious about it as I am about their final years. I keep coming back to 1998-1999 as it seems to me to have taken on a mythic status. It is a period fragmentarily documented which continues to invite speculation and frustration. The conventional narrative insists these were years of decline, yet the evidence— live performances, B-sides, Malkmus's demos and songwriting, interviews —suggests something more elusive. Not a band running out of inspiration, but one whose creative energies had become harder to recognize.

What do you guys think of this time? I am considering writing a piece about it and would very much like to hear people's thoughts.
