FREE event this Saturday: New place to hang out in West Melbourne!

Hello fellow redditors,

I own what I like to call your friendly neighborhood coworking space, Protowork•Studio. You might have heard of us a while back when we helped a redditor with a place for his job interview, and maybe you've seen us on social media here and there.

But more importantly, if you've been in this sub long enough, you've seen the same problem I have. "Where do I go to make new friends?" Or if you're not into alcohol or kava, where can you go hang out? Our latest expansion aims to solve that problem for the 20-45 y/o any gender demographic.

Introducing the Hangout @ Protowork: a new third space in Melbourne for people to gather, chill, and meet likeminded people. We'll have a "Community Library" with board games and craft supplies for you to enjoy while in the space, and we're seeking to add more fun stuff (trinket trade box maybe?!).

The Hangout is community-driven. We want this space to be for the local community, so if you want to start a book club, art club, or social club, we'd love to offer our space and our help with promoting your meetups!

We also have a shop where you can get craveable and delicious snacks, yummy kombucha, coloring books, puzzles, and cute/quirky items that you likely won't find anywhere else locally. We will also have 3D printing PLA filament for sale, so if you need some filament fast, you can drop by our shop to pick some up.

And if you're WFH and you ever want a place to do work that's not a coffee shop or library, we're an option. Just saying. Like...we had a Hobbit movie marathon last year at the office. If someone proposed doing a Matrix marathon, my husband would say "Yes, now." Our last work Friendsgiving had MarioKart involved. ^(Have I convinced you yet?)

Anyway, check out the Hangout and our family-owned coworking space this Saturday, open to the public, at 575 S Wickham Rd Ste G in Melbourne, FL where the Country Barn Cafe used to be (RIP) from 1-6 PM! Bring your friends, perhaps a game or craft you want to do, and have some fun!

Hangout's current planned hours for the month of May:

  • M-F: 9 am - 5 pm
  • Sat-Sun: 1 pm - 6 pm
  • Monday, Memorial Day: Open
  • Saturday, May 30: Closed for husband's birthday

The idea is to extend our hours slowly so that we can stay open until 9 PM.

I hope to see you there at the Soft Open!
