Outrageous Garage cost

This is from Viera FL apartments.

I rented out an apartment and they said they had a 1 month free garage parking.

So naturally I asked them what is the cost for garage parking and I wanted to pull my eyes out after seeing a whooping $225 / month cost.

Wtf? Are other places also charging this much for a freaking garage parking?

Stylist that can do a pixie on fine hair

Hi! I need a haircut before moving, and I have tried a few salons. I really don't have the time or energy to keep doing the DIY thing. Unfortunately, everywhere I have tried has left me with a boring, flat "old lady" cut, NOT a pixie. I can do it, so someone out there has to be able to as well?!

I'm in the viera/rockledge area. Please help!

TIA

Primary Care Doctors?

does anyone have any recommendations for a Female Primary care doctor? I’m looking for a doctor who is patient, doesn’t rush, and actually listens to concerns without automatically rushing to prescribe birth control.
I am also looking for gynecologist recommendations as well thank you!

Titusville residents: if you’re concerned about Flock license-plate cameras, show up. 08/25/26 city hall

The next Titusville City Council meeting is:

📅 Tuesday, August 25, 2026
🕡 Regular Council Meeting: 6:30 PM
📍 Titusville City Hall – Council Chambers
555 S. Washington Ave., Titusville, FL 32796

There is also a City Council presentation meeting from 5:30–6:30 PM. The city’s official calendar confirms both meetings.

Titusville is using Flock automated license-plate readers that collect vehicle-location data. If residents want stronger safeguards, limits on data sharing and retention, warrant requirements, a moratorium on expansion, or removal of the system entirely, City Council is where that pressure needs to be heard.

I’d like to see residents ask Council to place the Flock program on a public agenda for a full review and pause any expansion while that happens.

If you live in Titusville and care about privacy, government surveillance, constitutional rights, or simply knowing how your vehicle-location data is being collected and shared, August 25 is the meeting to attend.

Please share this with other Titusville/Brevard residents.
Who else plans to speak?

Dentist

Does anyone know a good dentist in Rockledge or nearby? I’m looking for someone who’s honest and won’t try to tell me I need a bunch of unnecessary work just for the money. I just want a dentist who will look at my teeth and tell me what I actually need done.
If you have someone you really trust, please send me their name!

Local News?

Where can I find local news? Space Coast Rocket is great, and a couple others I’ve found on socials but are there any traditional news channels covering Brevard?

Edit: Great suggestions, including several we hadn’t heard of. Thanks, all!

I want to start a writers group.

Hey all, I've been thinking about doing this for awhile. Then today I heard Dave Eggers on a podcast, talk about how much more fun it is to create together and he gets feedback from witer friends all the time. So I'm taking the step forward. I know it would be good for my growth as a writer and for my soul to have to have a social outlet with other writers. So... how to do this?

I'm thinking 4-8 of us meet once or twice a month at a coffee shop like Moon River downtown Melbourne. We gather for an hour or two and each read what we've been working on. Then we give "loving" critique of each other's work. I want honest criticism but I want encouragement too, I want to leave these meetings pumped up to continue writing. I want to give that to others too!

I published my first book, a memoir, on KDP last year and I'm currently outlining a historical fiction novel.

If you're interested in creating a group with me, send a DM. I'm 38M and I'd like to find writers within 20 years of my age.

Please tell me a little about yourself and name 3 of your favorite books in the comments or in the dm and we can begin to sort out if we would be a good fit. I'll go first.

I live in Palm Bay, a husband and father to 3 girls, I'm a handyman and contractor by day and musician by night and I try to get my writing in between day and night.

All over but the Shoutin -Rick Bragg

The stranger in the woods. -Michael Finkel

Civilwarland in bad decline. -George Saunders

(Honorable mention, Lonesome Dove, but it's so universally loved that I wanted to not use it in my 3. :))

I hope to hear from you fellow writers!

Thanks!

Adult driver's ed?

Looking for some help here for my husband. He is from the UK and never learned to drive but since moving here to Florida would like to start. However we are both very confused about how driving lessons work in Florida and/or Brevard. They seem geared more towards high school students or not readily available for adults? I’m from Maine originally and we had adult ed classes you could attend for it. He would prefer a classroom setting as opposed to a virtual course. But the ones that I can find locally look more like remedial classes (like you need to take a class if you got a ticket for speeding or something). Can anybody help me navigate this? I’m so confused.

Pest Services

Not dealing with anything full blown at the moment but I've noticed what I believe to be carpenter ants going up my exterior walls. It isn't a stereotypical trail of ants. Just a couple here and there and enough to get my attention. Any recommendations for a pest control/exterminator?

Party venue spaces

Does anyone have ideas for event spaces around town to house about 120 people without needing to be tied down to specific vendors?
I’m looking to have an engagement party but would like to have my own vendors for food and alcohol. Originally I wanted to do it at my house but we’re getting more rsvps than we thought we’d get. So now I’m looking into civic centers and parks. I just want it to be a nicer location that has an indoor space in case it rains and I’m not that familiar with the area yet

Did anybody else see that crazy looking effect at the launch just now?

It looked almost like a halo or some kind of jellyfish effect right as the rocket went up high enough to dissappear from sight. It was crazy beautiful.

Ah the Merritt Island Mountains

Ran across an ad for Cocoa Beach Pier yesterday and they were using this photo. I know they stopped being “local” when Westgate took over but wow.
