Hi, asking for a family member who lives in California. He moved into a LIHTC building and qualified at 60% AMI at the time.

He has lost that job unfortunately and now technically qualifies for 30% AMI. He was told however that he can’t apply for a 30% AMI unit in the same building. Is this true?

Also, can he request to be moved to a different unit of the same size in his building?

It says on the website some sponsored immigrants might be eligible. I have a neighbor who is sponsored and I am asking for her. Her rent is paid by the sponsor and another family member buys her groceries. Would she qualify?
