Is it possible to taxidermy the shell of my tortoise? 🥺

And if so, is it something I can do, or do I need to send it somewhere? My tort passed 2 days ago and my daughter wants to keep his shell. Is this doable? I'm in southern California and I don't think there are many taxidermists out here. What can I do to preserve him? Thanks.

Edit: Thank you everyone for all the great information. I have decided that I am in no way capable of doing this. My husband went out and buried him with the kids.

I'm devastated 💔

I lost my bestie yesterday. I went outside yesterday and my Leopard Tort was unresponsive. Papa Giorgio was 15yo. I got him for my daughter when she was 3 months. He was 6 months older than her. They grew up together. I have no idea what happened. He was okay in the morning and by 2 he was gone. We took him to an exotic pet vet and they confirmed he was gone. I just want everyone to see how amazing he was.

Edit: Thank you all for your kindness. After I wrote this post I got off reddit bc it made me too sad. Sorry I haven't responded sooner. Papa Nick Giorgio, how do the kids say it, iykyk

Update from my weird plant

The other day I asked about a weird plant growing in my yard and y'all spotted it right away as an Icelandic Poppy. So glad I didn't tear it out thinking it was a weed. Beautiful!
