i've never seen this before. is it real? should i buy it?

i just got this bag. its dry, hard-solid, structured not soft at all (i believe it's a veg-tanned leather) and cracked a little on the top flap. i use howard conditioner. i leave conditioner to absorb for 30 minutes. the bag completely dry like nothing happened before!. what's should i do or any tips for care this leather to prevent cracking in future. thank you! 🙏🏻🥹😭
