looking for advice on how to get into an environmental field without internships
hello, i’m an incoming college student in the u.s. my intention was to get an a.s. in environmental science and then transfer to a 4 year. my end goal is to get into wildlife bio/rehab but i understand that may be impossible with my circumstances, or anybody’s for that matter lol
i am the caregiver for an ill family member so i’m unable to go after internships, most volunteer opportunities, etc. i am looking for advice on how to set myself up to break into an environmental field when i have the freedom to do so. is there any point in getting an environmental science degree now, with no internships/volunteering/networking, or am i better off just going back to school later on when i can pursue those things? what about pursuing forestry, policy, anything.
reactive dog is impossible, no clue where to go from here
they are my family’s dogs and were kept isolated in a house from age 0-5. they were not abused besides being isolated. they did not see people outside of their family and they almost never saw dogs
they now live with me and i cannot leave my apartment, if they are alone they bark and bark and bark. they get into fights with each other constantly. when they’re on walks, if they see a person, a dog, or a stick they don’t like the look of they go apeshit barking and attacking. they haven’t bitten anybody because i hold them back but it’s going to happen if i can’t deal with them.
i have sat outside with them consistently so that they can watch people & dogs go by and they just go feral every time they see something. there has been no improvement for 7 months. i bought vibrating collars that helped for 2 days until they got used to the vibrations. positive reinforcement doesn’t do anything, negative reinforcement doesn’t do anything, they just do not improve no matter what i do. i have no idea what to do and my entire life revolves around a 10 pound dog. with their history of isolation, is there anything that can be done or is this just how they’re going to be for the next decade or so
