Falci/untethering

Hello! I am scheduled for an untethering surgery on September 3rd. I have terrible muscle tone and nerve pain that has gotten worse since my injury. I went from walking to a wheelchair now. I am extremely nervous about the surgery because I haven’t talked to a lot of people who have had the surgery. Anyone out there have the surgery with dr Falci? I’m trying to learn what to expect and how recovery goes. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

Falci

Hello I’m a t2 incomplete that has terrible spasticity, nerve pain, neurogenic bowel and bladder. I’m looking to hear from anyone with a spinal cord injury who has undergone untethering surgery with Dr. Falci. I’d really appreciate hearing about your experience—whether it was positive, negative, or somewhere in between.
If you’re comfortable sharing, I’d love to know:
What symptoms led you to have the surgery?
How long had it been since your spinal cord injury?
Did the surgery help with pain, spasticity, strength, mobility, or bladder/bowel function?
How difficult was the recovery?
Looking back, would you choose to have the surgery again?
I’m trying to make the most informed decision possible, so I’m interested in hearing honest experiences—the good, the bad, and everything in between. Thank you to anyone willing to share.

Any incompletes in here who suffer from excruciating nerve pain and have exhausted all avenues ever get the Drez procedure. I’m a t2/3 incomplete for the last 4.5 years and pain has driven and ruined my whole life along with terrible rigidity. My pain has stopped me from working out my legs due to the squeezing burning stabbing in between my thighs
And calves down to my feet. I have limited sensation in my legs but at one point I walked with a cane but for some reason no matter how much I stretch, my muscles are rigid. I’ve tried a baclofen pump, prialt, dilaudid, fentanyl, a spinal cord stimulator, acupuncture, tizanadine, lyrica, gabapentin, no meds, ketamine, pain therapy, you name it and I’ve tried it with no help.

I’ve reading about the Drez surgery and I just posted earlier about seeing Dr Scott
Falci and get tethered cord surgery, but at this point I could really care less about walking again. I walk alittle now with a walker if
You call it that. It’s led me to have my hips needing to be replaced, arthritis in my shoulders, and has me hunched over most of the time because when I stand straight the nerve pain in my legs is unrelenting. I know it sounds harsh, but pain has stopped me from working, living, doing stuff with my daughters. Now I still do alot but I’m so fucking miserable and depressed dealing with this pain. I’m just looking for some help and at this point I’m 41. I don’t feel like there’s some
Magic cure
Coming down the pike anytime soon that will be available to me anyway. I’m looking for people who had it done and wanted to know the pros and cons.

Thanks in advance

Has any incompletes in here had Dethethering surgery done by Dr. Scott Falci? I am a t2 incomplete with horrible nerve pain and spasticity. I have been injured for 4.5 years and I have gone from walking with a cane to needing a wheelchair.

I also have had to have both my hips replaced due to my muscle tone and spasticity. My injury has been an absolute nightmare. I’ve gone through 6 surgeries for baclofen pumps, fusions, spinal cord stimulators. the only sligh relief I’ve gotten is from the spinal cord stimulator which takes my pain to an 8 but makes my muscle tone worse. My legs swell, my shoulder now has arthritis due to pushing myself around the last 2 years with a walker. My si joints have fused on their own, and I’m bent over most of the time. The screws in my fusion has loosened and is now protruding out my back. I try to rehab and workout but I’m like the tin man and can’t even move.

I met with Dr. Falci last summer and he looked over my case. He felt my cord was tethering at the site of my injury. He recommended the dethetering surgery to address my nerve pain and spasticity. I am in the process of scheduling my surgery but I am looking for some feedback. Has anyone in here had the dethetering surgery done by Dr. Falci? If so did it address the nerve pain and spasticity. I am at my wits end with all of this. Especially the fact my continued decline has limited my ability to be active with my children. I do what I can and try to be active with my girls, but I am so limited what I can do. I’m literally a huge fucking piece of concrete with nerve pain that feels like I have piano wire squeezing my feet and legs.

Good or bad I’m still getting the surgery as I was told 50 percent chance of people have life changing results.I’m hoping on the 50 percent that get good results but my luck has not been the best.
