Siem Reap - The Community, any recent experiences in this hotel?

I have been reading across different Reddit posts, TA posts and although this accomodation has a very high rating in Booking.com for example, I do not ever see this hotel as ""the"" recommended one when people are asking about suggested accomodation. Wondering if anyone has recent experiences you would be able to share If you've stayed there recently?

Hanoi hotel recommendation based on my shortlist

Hey everyone, i have been doing a lot of reading on where to stay in Hanoi and I am still going back and forth on my final decision. For those of you knowing these, I would like to pick your brains on the best choice among these within Hanoi Old Quarter:

- Hanoi Pearl Hotel (6 Ng. Báo Khánh, Hoàn Kiếm)
- La Nueva Boutique Hotel Hanoi & Spa (32 Lo Su Street, Hoàn Kiếm)
- Imperial Hotel & Spa (44 Ng. Hàng Hành, Hoàn Kiếm)

I will be spending 4 nights here in the beginning of January, and the prices seem very similar across the board (my budget is ideally of less than 100 USD/night). My priority is to have very easy access to Hoan Kiem, so I can have a walk around in the morning for some people watching doing tai chi, dancing and so on. I would like the hotel to be clean and as noise-insulated as possible (knowing that this might be an utopia when talking about Old Quarter). I am not super picky about breakfast itself as I do plan to have my fair share of Vietnamese coffee in the area.

Sidenote: I had also shortlisted Hotel Tirant as it is mentioned super positively all across the web, but it is a little bit outside of my budget for the moment.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated .Thank you!

Advice on 13 day plans

Hi everyone! We’d love to hear your thoughts on the following itinerary and whether you think it’s worth keeping HCMC or skipping it altogether (we still haven’t fully decided).

We’re a fairly active couple in our mid-30s, very into photography, food, cafés, interacting with people and local culture as possible. We’re also interested in the American/Vietnam War, which is why we considered adding HCMC mainly for the War Remnants Museum and possibly the Cu Chi Tunnels.

Day 0: Arrival in Hanoi (around 2 PM, flight from Chiang Mai). Afternoon/evening in Hanoi.
Days 1 & 2: Hanoi
Day 3: Morning in Hanoi. Train to Ninh Binh around midday, lunch and afternoon/evening there.
Days 4 & 5: Ninh Binh (planning to slow down a bit here, boat ride, cycling, relaxing, photography).
Day 6: Halong Bay overnight cruise, planning to go with Indochina Junk in Bai Tu Long Bay.
Day 7: Return from Halong Bay to Hanoi and overnight Lotus train to Danang.
Day 8: Sunrise on the train (we’d love to see the Hai Van Pass section between Hue and Danang from the train), then continue to Hoi An.
Days 9 & 10: Hoi An
Day 11: Early flight from Danang to HCMC (arriving around 8–8:30 AM). Explore HCMC, with War Remnants Museum and the Central Post Office as priorities.
Day 12: Early half-day Cu Chi Tunnels tour, then back to the airport for an evening flight to Siem Reap.

Originally we had one extra day in Hanoi, but we removed it and reallocated it to HCMC… though we’re still debating whether that was the right move.

Does this feel overly rushed or inefficient in any part? Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks a lot!
