Photos from iMessage

When someone sends a photo in iMessage and I click the little save icon next to it, it saves to the phone but does automatically save to iCloud. I must go back to each one in the Photos app and click “Save shared photo” as shown. I’ve Googled every way I can think of but can’t find the same scenario, it always thinks I’m talking about using shared folders.

Surely there must be a setting I’m missing but it eludes me. iMessage-> Shared with you -> Automatic Sharing is enabled.

Searching markdown files

Just noticed search in the Files app and Siri both completely ignore text in markdown files, as if not being indexed at all. Confirmed on 26.5.2 and 27 public beta 2. Can’t find anything about this on Google. Is this a known issue?

Edit: experimented with changing a markdown extension from .md to .txt. Almost instantly search works for that file. Wondering if I should simply rename them all…

Edit 2: disregard, I got on the Mac and used an app to quickly change all the file extensions to txt. All files now searchable. Strange, I consider this a bug because nothing about the file changes except the extension. At the same time it really makes no difference to me which extension they are.

Edit Screen recording apps?

Any way to edit or rearrange the apps shown for screen recording? I have like 8 apps that show up here but only use 2

I’m always happy to be the awkward one in the room. Despite negative vibes from the vast majority, I recently got the Shaman LW and I LOVE it. I can’t put it down because of the perfect ergos of the Shaman combined with the absolutely addictive handle texture. Same reason I use Victorinox Fibrox kitchen knives, they feel very similar. My only regret is not picking it up sooner (literally picking it up to handle it). It’s not my “best” knife, not the best steel, not the best value, but has quickly become my favorite EDC. BD1N is “plenty good enough” in my world. I even had the REC Python version but it just didn’t speak to me. Good value or not, I’m all about the LW.
