[Free License Code] SpectraSort 2.4 - introducing Scenes, a new way to discover your photos

We've added a way to quickly surface groups of photos for a quick review, whether it's a trip, a theme (eg flowers), look-alikes to dedupe, or just a day in the past. Pull down the title from the home page to show them. Each time you go to the page five scenes are displayed, a refresh shows up to five more. As you sort through your photo library, more Scenes will be discovered. Give it a try!

SpectraSort is an intelligent and fast photo sorting app that only uses on-device processing for 100% private photo management, no cloud compute involved.

Here are a few of my previous posts about it as I built up its features:

For one week starting now, feel free to DM me for a Lifetime Premium code. I'd also really appreciate some feedback on the new feature and the app in general!

Download SpectraSort from the App Store.

SpectraSort 2.2 is out - Image Search, Stacking / Dedupe, Multi-Select and more!

Thanks for the great feedback from everyone (backup of the original post here), this version incorporates some of the most requested features, hope it'll be even more useful for you!

IMAGE SEARCH

Find more shots like one you already have. Pick a photo as the example and SpectraSort sorts your library by visual similarity — the closest matches surface to the top. Open it from the subject picker on the home screen.

STACKING / DEDUPE

After a sort, duplicates, sequence of shots and similar-looking shots group into stacks in the Review grid. Swipe a whole stack right to keep or left to discard in one move. Choose what groups together and make adjustments in Stacking Options (new button on the Review screen).

SKIP ALBUMS

Leave albums out of a sort. In Filters, the Exclude section lets you skip app folders from social media, Favorites, or any album you pick — or invert the list to sort only the albums you choose.

MULTI-SELECT

In select mode, press and hold, then drag across the Review grid to select many photos at once, then pick or discard them in bulk (new button on the Review screen)

PLUS

A new price of $7.99 for a lifetime license!

Coming soon: image search and dedupe in SpectraSort 2.2!

Working on the release, but image search is working spectacularly well! You can even search for multiple images at the same time or combine images what subjects / keywords.

Also, dedupe with multiple matching modes will be included!

Let me know if you have any questions / thoughts 😀

SpectraSort 2.1 has landed, now even faster and (more) bug-free! :)

Thanks to everyone who provided feedback on v2! I've implemented some of the great ideas and fixed a number of major bugs. Plus, I've added 5 bulk actions (Save, Share, Delete) as trial for FREE to help you get a taste of the full features.

Link to a backup of the original post listing the app's features: Created a super customizable photo sorter that runs entirely on your phone

Release notes on v2.1 below. My offer on lifetime free license still stands, provide some feedback on Reddit and / or Apple App Store (positive or negative) for a FREE lifetime license code!

— Even faster than v2: after the first sort, each photo sorts over 3x faster thanks to a new indexing system.

— Clearer progress feedback: added visual feedback for the Review screen preparation process after sorting, so the app does not appear to be frozen.

— No more freezes or crashes after review: going to the Bulk Actions (previously Next Steps) screen is now instant, achieved through algorithm optimization.

— Start FREE with full features: your first 5 bulk actions after sorting - Save, Share, or Delete - are free to help you decide whether to buy.

— Various fixes:

• Filtering by location no longer crashes.

• Restoring a previous purchase now confirms clearly.

• The upgrade screen fits without scrolling.

• Made the Technical / Artistic slider handle faintly visible even in non-active state to act as a hint for the feature.

Created a super customizable photo sorter that runs entirely on your phone

Step 1) You select up to three different subjects (8 built-in plus whatever keyword phrase you want, it understands relationship between subjects too such as "man walking dog"), fine-tune up to 7 quality parameters (or use a Technical / Aesthetic slider to move all 7 at once), and balance between subject or quality focused sort.

Step 2) The photos that match your criteria well are surfaced to the top, use swiping actions to Pick or Discard them. Then you can save to album / share the picked ones or bulk delete the discarded ones.

Different sort profile can be Bookmarked. There's also a bonus "Taste" profile that auto-learns from your picks and discards, which you can use or ignore (I'm continuing to make it work better, but obviously auto-learning user taste is hard). At the picking stage if you don't want to go through each photo one by one just use Autopick and they get divided to different buckets by score tiers.

All on-device processing, completely private. 100+pics/second on my iPhone 17 pro, older devices would be anywhere between 30 ~ 80 / second depending on the CPU, starting from iPhone X

Feedback would be very welcome, making this out of personal need and for the photography community. Second version and plan to continue to improve.

Right now it's free to sort, premium to save/share/delete. Feel free to ask me for a lifetime premium code in exchange for some feedback :)

Edit: thanks to everyone who reported the bug about crashing on large libraries! A fix has just been released, feel free to give it a try!

Edit 2: thanks to u/Alternative-Host8625 for alerting me to an app store configuration issue for EU. Fixed, you should be able to download and redeem the code now without problems!

Edit 3: A tip for everyone (thanks u/Henevy for the detailed feedback! This is taken from a part of my response):

  • If you want to have different learned Taste profiles for different types of photos (e.g. vacations vs family gatherings), the way I designed the workflow is around the Bookmarks: for example you train a profile for vacation, bookmark it, then clear the profile (or not - the Taste profile is recency weighted so older pick/rejects matter less), then train the profile for family photos, and Bookmark that. It's not super intuitive and I welcome any suggestions on improving the flow :)

--------------

(This is a repost, the original got removed by Reddit's auto-filter because I edited too many times. Will make updates in replies going forward).
