Kept missing game bundle deals, so I built a Discord bot that tracks them for me
Hey! So I built my own Discord bot recently, and I'm honestly pretty proud of it, wanted to share it here.
I'm 21, studying Applied Computer Science, so yeah, my gaming budget is pretty tight and good deals actually matter to me. It started because I kept missing really good game bundle deals, like actually good, 90% off stuff, and I'd only find out about them a week later scrolling through some random forum. The annoying part was that some of these bundles had limited keys, so by the time I noticed, the games were already gone. That bugged me enough that I was like, ok, I'll just build a bot that tells me about this stuff myself instead of hoping I randomly find the right post at the right time.
Called it Bundle Bot. What it does right now:
- Automatically posts new bundles as soon as they drop (Fanatical, Humble, GMG)
- Lets you check a game's current price and its historical low, so you actually know if a "deal" is real or not
- You can set an alert on a specific game and it'll DM you the second it hits its all-time low price
It's also a pretty chill bot to add. It doesn't need admin permissions to work, just basic stuff like sending messages in the channel you pick. So no reason to be worried about giving it too much access.
Tech-wise it's just Python, discord. py, SQLite for storage, running on a student DigitalOcean plan in Docker. Nothing crazy, I just wanted it to actually work without breaking.
Kept it completely free, no ads, no premium stuff, mostly because that's what I was looking for myself and couldn't find.
Still just me running it and adding stuff people ask for. If you've got a gaming server (or even just a group chat with friends who game), it might actually be useful there too. That's kind of the whole point, I didn't want to keep it just for myself. If anyone wants to try it or has feedback, I'd appreciate it. Link's in the comments so I don't get flagged as spam.
