Evan is back on Leemujin service!!
If you haven't watched Evan’s episode on Lee Mujin Service yet, I highly recommend checking it out on YouTube. It provides a great look into his mindset since his solo debut.
I like the format and the type of questions Lee Mujin asks his guests, allowing them to dive deeper into their craft, discuss what influenced their view on music and the styles they draw inspiration from, as well as their creative process and future ambitions.
Throughout the episode, I found Evan's responses to be really mature and grounded, making it clear just how much thought and care he puts into his musical direction.
Even though the show was pre-recorded, he ended up indirectly addressing a lot of the criticism he's been receiving lately. He reaffirmed his interest in R&B (the sound many argue suits him best) while openly stating his desire to experiment with different genres and pursue an alternative route. He was also very transparent about the fact that he wasn't that familiar with rock music initially, noting that he simply liked the sound, felt it was right, and wanted to try it out in Ride or Die.
It feels like people are being way too quick to jump to definitive conclusions about his career trajectory after only two songs. While everyone is entitled to their personal preferences regarding genre and style, the comments discrediting his actual vocal abilities are just in bad-faith if you ask me...his technical skill is obvious, let's be so for real.
