Weirdly proud of myself?
I've been writing fanfic since 1998. I've got over 1 million words of fanfic on my AO3 account. But, I think my proudest moment involving ithappened the other day when I finally finished a fic that I started back in 2014 and hadn't updated since April of 2016!
I've always told myself that I never wanted to be one of those authors who started a fic and never finished it because it sucks to come across a WIP that never finishes, but life came at me hard for a decade with computer errors and health issues and a special needs kid, but I finally finished this thing the way I wanted to and I just wanted to kind of brag on myself for a bit and maybe inspire any of you who left a fic hanging.
How did I do it? The chapter I had been in the process of writing way back when? It got corrupted on my hard drive so when I opened it up to look at where I was, it was blank. Remembering back, I could only think that I'd written myself into a corner and I didn't have the time/energy to get myself back out, but with that gone, all of my expectations were gone and I could just run with it in a new direction instead.
