Issue when recording

Ok, new tonex one+ user. After many hours, I’m happy with the sound I’ve got in the tonex software, and (after some further adjustments) happy with the sound I’m getting when plugged directly into PA / FOH. That’s via the canvas LI.

However, when I plug this exact same set up into my focusrite, it sound awful. I’ve made sure I’m set to line, rather than inst, and checked input gain levels. But it just sounds so different, and truly awful.

Any ideas what could be going wrong?

Tonex one+ specific questions for someone about to take the plunge

Ok so I've succumbed and I'm going ampless. Tonex one seems to fit the bill, and it seems silly not to get the + with the timing. I've got 3 specific Qs:

  1. Pedal chain order: I'll likely use it as an A/B clean and dirty amp. So I'm planning to put it after drives and before time/tremolo/judder/stammen pedals. My Q here is, I've seen some debate on having the cab sim on before these pedals. Some say it matters, some don't. Obviously, I won't know until I set it up, how it sounds for me. But interested in hearing how you set yours up similar to this, any work arounds etc. Maybe not using their cab sims and having a second cab sim pedal at the end of the chain? Seems a bit much...?
  2. DI/Line isolator. For those playing live, have you found a good line isolator that pairs well, or are you typically just using the FOH DI boxes and dealing with the added gain they produce?
  3. Playing at home - given that it's going to be middle of my chain, I think I can't utilise the headphones output on it. Do headphones still work at the end of the chain, with the tonex mid chain? Or else, do you just run into a very flat sounding bedroom amp? (I have a Yamaha THR, specifically). I don't really want to have to buy a FRFR speaker just for this. Otherwise could always plug into my interface and connect headphones that way.

Any other 'wish I had known before' type tips as well please! Thanks in advance!

Need Help finalising...

Alright, here's iteration 2 of my current board. I have most of these pedals but want to hear your thoughts before I buy the last couple. It's on a Boss BCB1000 board.

Chain:

Boss XS-1 Poly Shifter
Rowin Slow Hand
Ibanez Tube Screamer Mini
Nobels ODR-mini
ProCo RAT
Boss FB-2 Feedbacker/Booster
Hotone Tuner Press
MXR M234 Analog Chorus
Drolo Stamme[n]
EHX Grand Canyon
EHX Holy Grail Max
MWFX Judder Mini
Sentimental Bob Tacana
EQD Buffer Preamp

Looking for any thoughts and feedback but a few specific Qs for those in the know:

  1. EQD buffer preamp, they say this adds some 'low' back to the body of the chain. Anyone used one? Do you notice a difference against a cheaper (but quality) buffer? This is one of the few pedals I don't own yet.
  2. Drive section, I need a 'compressed' tone for clean, so the TS is an always on, but gain right down. This or swap for an always on compressor? Nobels for crunch/chords. Rat for bigger riffs. FB2 mostly for the feedbacker. But could be placed elsewhere as a boost as well. Any re-ordering or pedal swaps? Think alt rock.
  3. Hotone Tuner press - one of the others I don't yet own, any opinions from anyone? I like it for space saving on the tuner, and the occasional use for EXP on the XS1 for whammy style use. Seems to be the only pedal doing all 3 things.
  4. Any cool mini pedal to go in that little gap?...
